Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 900

He muttered to himself, “Strange, isn’t my brother watching the livestream? Why isn’t he answering his phone?”

Hearing this, Faith also dialed her younger brother, Solomon, but she couldn’t get through to him either.

Last night, after seeing the news about Zoltan personally going to pick up Rigby, her brother had predicted that the man named Sire was planning to get his revenge today. He was convinced Sire would have tampered with Zoltan’s car. He had even said it would be perfect if Haskell was in the same car as Zoltan.

Faith tried calling again, but there was still no answer. Had something happened to her brother?

...

“Haskell, get in.” Larissa called out with a smile, her arm resting on the car window as she saw him exit the estate. Something was off, though. Crispin, who was usually Haskell’s shadow, was nowhere in sight.

A flicker of confusion crossed Larissa’s mind, but she dismissed it, figuring Haskell must have sent Crispin to protect Zoltan.

Haskell wheeled himself over, a faint smile on his face. “Alright.”

After Haskell settled into the passenger seat, Larissa’s lips curved into a playful smirk. “Why aren’t you taking your own car today? Afraid Sire tampered with it?”

Haskell chuckled. “My car is fine. My grandfather’s, on the other hand, is a different story.” Larissa’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh?”

Haskell’s smile faded slightly. “My grandfather’s car has been tampered with.”

Larissa had expected as much, but she was curious about one thing.

“So...” She drew out the word, and Haskell, knowing what she wanted to ask, replied, “My grandfather is in the car.”

Larissa’s mouth fell open, as if she was seeing this side of Haskell for the first time. Then, a single word escaped her lips: “Damn.”

...

Inside the Rolls-Royce sedan, sandwiched between security vehicles, Thatch woke up to see Solomon and Fraser on either side of him.

“Where am I? How did I get here? Solomon, you…”

Solomon, fearing Thatch would say something he shouldn’t in front of Zoltan, cut him off sharply. “Uncle Thatch! You’re in my grandpa’s car!”

Thatch straightened up and looked ahead. Sure enough, there was Zoltan in the passenger seat. He was completely bewildered. “Dad, how did I get here?”
