Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 917

The subordinate asked hesitantly, "So, Boss, is the plan to level the village still on? Or should I have our men pull the bombs out now?"

Jedidiah thought for a moment before making his decision. "The plan proceeds as scheduled. If I'm not out of the village by eleven o'clock at night, you'll launch an armed assault. The official story will be that I've been kidnapped by the escaped convicts and my life is in danger. Get me out safely before midnight."

"Understood," the subordinate replied.

The evening, Jedidiah's car arrived at the outskirts of Spire Village. He had his driver stop and ask a passing villager, "Where does Larissa live?"

The villager sized them up for a moment before replying, "Looking for Larissa? I can take you there."

Soon, the villager had led them to Larissa's rustic cottage. "Here you go. This is where Larissa lives."

After the villager left, Jedidiah got out of the car, his face a mask of disgust as he surveyed the dilapidated earthen structure. He stepped cautiously onto the muddy ground, as if each step might swallow his expensive shoes whole.

Finally reaching the doorway, he saw Larissa inside, sitting on a wooden stool and tending to some herbs.

His subordinate, standing beside him, knocked impatiently on the doorframe.

Larissa looked up. "Well, well, Jedidron. You made it."

Jedidiah's brow tightened. He scanned the interior, and once he confirmed no one else was present, he stepped inside. He chose a worn-looking wooden stool to sit on, his displeasure evident.

"I told you, I'm not Jedidron. I don't know who that is."

Larissa laughed again. "Oh, I know. But even if nothing happens to you, you were already planning on finishing off my entire village, weren't you?"

At that, Jedidiah's face froze. "What are you talking about?"

Larissa's lips curled into a smile. "You know exactly what I'm talking about."

Jedidiah's gaze remained fixed on her face, suddenly unable to tell if she truly knew about his plan to bomb Spire Village, or if this was all just an elaborate bluff.

"No need to guess," Larissa said, picking up another herb and sniffing it. "I know your plan. You want to blow the entire Spire Village off the map, don't you?"

Jedidiah's face fell.
