Larissa Judson and Haskell Palmer novel Chapter 936

Seething, Xylee stood up. "Fine! I won't bother with you. But let's see what your grandfather has to say about it. Do you think he'll agree to your child being named Judson?"

With that, she stormed out.

Watching Xylee's furious retreat, Larissa shrugged and turned to Haskell. "We've barely been married a day and your aunt is already trying to put me in my place."

Haskell smiled dismissively. "You know my family situation. The older generation can't even get along with each other, yet they think they have the right to manage my life. It's rather presumptuous of them."

Larissa wasn't too concerned with what the Palmers thought. "So, what are your thoughts?"

Haskell took her hand and led her outside. "It's like you said. If you think it's better for our child to be a Judson, then they'll be a Judson. If Palmer is better, then Palmer it is. Who can guarantee that the Palmer family will still be standing strong in the future anyway?"

Larissa sighed softly. "Even though my name is Judson, it didn't come from my father or grandfather. It came from Seaton Judson, the man who found me and saved me. So you don't have to worry. I never planned for our child to take my name. I don't have any obsession with carrying on a family line. A child should take their father's name. It's a powerful connection between them."

A father doesn't experience the nine months of pregnancy as a mother does, so he can't naturally have the same innate bond with a child. So how do you reinforce a man's sense of responsibility as a father? You constantly reaffirm that the child is his by the name and get him deeply involved in their care. That was Larissa's view. What others thought didn't matter to her.

Haskell just smiled.

Larissa continued, "Yes. I was hesitant at first about helping my mother conceive, mainly because of her age. But in the end, I knew she wanted her own child, and I wanted that for her. So, while I didn't make a big show of it, I've been adjusting her diet and giving her acupuncture treatments under the guise of relaxation. I didn't tell her because I didn't want her to feel pressured. Sometimes the best surprises happen when you're not trying."

"I think, if all goes well, she should be able to get pregnant soon. When that happens, she won't have the energy to take care of a new pet. That's why I wanted her to wait until the baby is a little older before considering it."
