Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 144

The beating continued unabated for ten minutes. Draven was now genuinely terrified, curling up to protect his head and screaming for mercy. “Stop! Haskell, make them stop! They’re going to kill me! Please, tell them to stop!”

Haskell finally raised a hand, and the bodyguards halted. “Do you know what you did wrong?”

Once he was sure they had stopped, Draven slowly lifted his battered head. “I was wrong, Haskell. Next time you come to the company, I won’t leave you waiting. No matter what meeting I’m in or which client I’m seeing, I’ll come get you right away.”

Haskell let out a soft, mirthless laugh and raised his hand again. “It seems you still don’t understand. Continue.”

The two bodyguards resumed their assault.

After another ten minutes, Haskell called a halt once more. He wheeled himself over to Draven, who was now a swollen, bloody mess, and looked down at him. “Let me tell you what you did wrong.”

“After my legs were injured, the company was put under your temporary management. But you started acting like you were the damn president. Draven, tell me, what do you mean, ‘come get you’? Do I need to be escorted into my own company? Who do you think you are?”

Draven whispered weakly, “I was wrong, Haskell… I was just trying to take on more responsibility… so you could rest and recover at home… I never meant to replace you…”

“Oh? It’s best if you didn’t. Because if you had, even being my brother wouldn’t have saved you.” Having dealt with Draven, Haskell wiped his hands as if cleaning off filth. “I’ll be back at the office tomorrow. Before I get there, I want every single person HR has hired in the last month fired. And don’t even think about using company funds for their severance—that comes out of your own pocket. As for everyone who was forced out, you will personally contact each and every one of them and hire them back. If a single one refuses to return, you can expect another lesson tomorrow.”

Draven managed a weak reply. “…I understand.”

With the matter settled, Haskell turned his attention to Larissa, who was lounging on the sofa, having watched the entire spectacle with an amused air.

He would repay today’s humiliation a hundred times over. He swore it.

...

At the Starlight Media.

Leopold stormed into Finley’s office and threw himself onto the sofa, radiating fury.

“I’ve handled Kitty,” he announced. “She’s releasing a statement tonight taking full responsibility for the evening gown.”
