After hanging up, Leopold gripped his phone tightly. He hadn't wanted to resort to such underhanded tactics, but Larissa had forced his hand. Since she was determined to push them to the brink, he had no choice but to play dirty.
A few moments later, the head of his security detail knocked on his car window. Leopold lowered it, his face a cold, menacing mask.
“Mr. Leopold, what are your orders?”
Leopold jutted his chin toward the parking spot opposite them. “Find a way to tamper with the brakes on that white Panamera. And plant a GPS tracker on it.”
The moment Larissa’s car crashed, he wanted to be there to witness the horrific scene, to watch her beg him like a dying dog to call for an ambulance.
The bodyguard paused for a second before nodding. “Understood.”
“And disable all the surrounding security cameras first. Leave no trace.”
“Understood.”
Once the bodyguard and his men were on their way to carry out his orders, Leopold rolled up his window, stomped on the gas, and sped out of the parking garage. As he watched the white Panamera shrink in his rearview mirror, a triumphant smile spread across his face.
…
An hour later.
“Solon, Larissa and I are having our engagement party on Saturday evening. You have to be there,” Haskell said.
Solon nodded. “Of course. I consider myself something of a big brother to Larissa, so if you ever dare to mistreat her, you’ll be making an enemy of the Schwartz family.”
Haskell smiled but offered no empty promises. Words were cheap. He would prove his commitment through his actions, day by day.
Larissa, however, laughed. “Don’t worry. He’ll be lucky if I don’t bully him.”
Since he’d served up this opportunity on a silver platter, she had to make the most of it. The last time, she had only given him a beating. The punishment for the evening gown incident—a kneeling apology letter—was laughably lenient. He clearly didn’t take her seriously.
After the manager left, a cunning look appeared in Larissa’s eyes.
“Are you afraid of dying?” she asked Haskell.
He raised an eyebrow. “If it’s with you, not at all.”
A radiant smile lit up her face. “Then get ready to play for high stakes.”
“I’d follow you anywhere,” Haskell replied with a grin.
Once in the car, Larissa immediately put on her Bluetooth earpiece and made a call. “Nightveil, have you located Leopold?”
