Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 185

Thatch’s face darkened. “What do you mean, ‘gotten our wish’? Think whatever you want! You’ve been paranoid ever since you were crippled!”

“Are you sure it’s paranoia? The fact that Valeria is your illegitimate daughter turned out to be true, didn’t it?” Haskell shot back.

“Don’t keep bringing that up!” Thatch snapped. “Valeria paid the price for her loose tongue. Are you planning to kill her just because she’s my illegitimate daughter?”

“Of course not. But if I find out she was behind the kidnapping, then I will have no choice but to eliminate her.” Haskell’s gaze shifted to Draven. “Isn’t that right, Draven?”

Draven flinched slightly but forced a placating smile. “You’re right. But Dad and I both want you to be well. The company needs you to lead it.”

Haskell chuckled softly. “Oh? Are you running into problems you can’t solve?”

Draven hadn’t expected that when he’d gone to the office, still recovering from his injuries, every major project he had taken over would suddenly fall apart. When he called to demand answers, his clients questioned his competence and terminated their contracts.

It was obvious Haskell was behind it all, teaching him a harsh lesson about his own capabilities. Despite his resentment, Draven knew he couldn’t afford the massive losses the company would suffer if he didn’t come groveling to his brother.

So, he humbled himself once more. “The company has run into some trouble. It’s due to my own lack of ability.”

“As long as you know your place,” Haskell said coolly. “I’ll return to the company when I’m discharged. As for you, you can stay home and live off Dad’s money. At least then you won’t be in the way.”

“I agree. You can leave now,” Haskell said flatly.

Draven stood in stunned silence.

“Draven, your brother is being completely unreasonable! Let’s go!” Thatch fumed. “If he won’t give you a chance, we’ll go to your grandfather! He can’t really think he runs this entire family!”

But Draven maintained his calm demeanor. “Bro, you get some rest. Dad was just speaking out of anger. He was worried about you the whole way here. We’ll come visit you again tomorrow.”
