Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 247

Paxton turned to Neville. “Neville, Josette told me her husband is arranging a meeting with Zendar for me tomorrow to discuss a partnership. It seems your fantasy of wrestling control of Judson Pharmaceuticals from me is about to be shattered.”

Neville, who had heard about this from Sapphira the previous night, wasn’t worried at all.

“Is that so? You haven’t even met the man yet, and the meeting isn’t even confirmed. Aren’t you celebrating a bit prematurely?”

Paxton, however, was confident. “Tonight is your daughter’s engagement party. I won’t spoil your mood. You can continue to indulge in your little fantasy for one more day.”

With that, he walked inside.

Vivica lifted her chin haughtily and followed him, with Finley and Honora close behind.

Watching the family of four disappear, Sapphira couldn’t help but mutter, “They just live to be unpleasant, don’t they?”

Neville gently squeezed her hand to soothe her. “Let them be. They’re all talk. They can’t hurt Larissa.”

Sapphira nodded. “You’re right.” After a moment, she added with a frown, “But Haskell’s father is really too much. Not showing up to help his own son greet guests on such an important occasion. Who knows where he is? It’s like he wants people to gossip about his son.”

Neville said thoughtfully, “Perhaps he’s doing it on purpose. We just need to look after Larissa. As for the Palmers, Haskell is a smart young man. He can handle it.”

“Alright,” Sapphira agreed.

Except for Thatch’s family, who already lived at the manor, and their eldest sister, Xylee, all of Zoltan’s other children and grandchildren had arrived. They were currently gathered in the study, chatting with the patriarch.

“Thatch, today is your son’s engagement party. Why are you in here with us instead of greeting guests? Haven’t you spent enough time with Dad after all these years living at the manor?” said Trevor, the fourth son.

There were still three months until the end of the year. Tobias and Trevor exchanged a look. Zoltan was probably still holding out hope for Haskell.

Fine. They could wait. In the meantime, they would make sure their own sons performed exceptionally well to win Zoltan’s approval.

In the main hall, the younger generation of Palmers were chatting freely about the marriage alliance.

“Grandpa picked this unrefined country girl for Haskell. This has to be a sign that he’s given up on Haskell as the heir, right?”

The speaker was Solomon, son of Tobias. Years of traveling with his father had left his skin slightly tan and imbued him with the same ruthless edge.
