Larissa ended the call and tossed the phone back to Finley.
“Since that’s your choice,” she said with a knowing smile, “I hope you don’t regret it.”
Finley was about to say he wouldn’t when Larissa suddenly asked, “How is Leopold?”
Surprised that she would ask about him, Finley quickly replied, “He still hasn’t woken up.” He then asked, confused, “What did you do to him when you snuck into his room that day?”
This time, Larissa didn’t hide it. “Nothing much. I just made sure he was awake.”
Finley stared. “Awake? You mean you already woke him up? Then why is he still in a coma?”
“Because I only woke up his mind,” Larissa explained. “His body is still paralyzed.”
“What’s the point of doing that?”
Finley didn’t believe she would do something like that for no reason.
Larissa smiled enigmatically. “You want to know my purpose? When I finally decide to remove the needle from his head and let him wake up for good, you can ask him yourself.”
...
After hanging up, Honora stared at her swollen face in the vanity mirror, her eyes gleaming. Her poison could be cured! Her beauty could be restored!
Just then, her phone rang. Seeing it was Vivica, she let it ring for a few moments before answering.
“Mom.”
After the call, Honora got ready to go find Larissa for the antidote before heading to the hospital. As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she ran into Finley, who had just returned. She immediately wiped the excitement from her face and put on a guilty, mournful expression. “Finley…”
Seeing her dressed to go out, wearing sunglasses and a mask, he asked, “Where are you going?”
“Mom went to her family’s home yesterday to find someone who could help Grandpa, right? She just called and said she won’t be back today either, so she asked me to go to the hospital and spend time with Leopold,” Honora said, careful not to mention she was on her way to get the antidote from Larissa. That would make her seem selfish.
“I see.” Finley thought about what Larissa had said, his expression complicated. “Well, please take care of Leopold until Mom gets back.”
Honora nodded obediently. “I’ll head to the hospital now…”
As she reached the door, Finley called out from behind her, “Honora, you should also go find Larissa and get the antidote.”
A small smile tugged at the corner of Honora’s lips. Finley was so predictable; every move he made was exactly as she expected.
