Honora gasped, her eyes fixed on his leg. “Finley, what happened to your right leg?”

At Honora’s words, Leopold glanced down and finally saw it. His eyes widened, a mixture of shock and confusion washing over his face.

Panic surged through him. He rushed to Finley’s side, gripping his shoulders tightly. “Finley, what happened to your leg!”

Finley tried to push him away, feigning composure, but Leopold wouldn’t let go, his grip firm as he demanded an answer.

His patience snapping, Finley violently shoved Leopold’s hands away.

“Enough!” he roared. “Just drop it!”

Thrown off balance, Leopold stared, completely bewildered by his brother’s sudden rage.

“I was just worried about you…” he said, his voice laced with hurt.

“I don’t need your concern!” Finley snapped. He turned and limped away, each step a strained, agonizing effort, as if his leg could barely support his weight.

Leopold watched him go, utterly baffled.

Honora watched Finley’s retreating figure, her face etched with worry and her eyes welling with tears.

“His leg…” she said, her voice trembling. “Do you think… Larissa did this to him? Is she threatening him so he won’t tell us the truth?”

At her words, a cold fury ignited in Leopold. His jaw clenched and his fists tightened, a vein pulsing at his temple.

“I fell. Broke it,” Finley muttered, his face pale and drawn.

Vivica’s own face paled with alarm. “You broke it? Just from a fall? Let me see…” She shot up from the sofa, rushing toward him.

Finley waved her away impatiently, stopping her in her tracks. “Don’t!” he snapped, his voice harsh. “There’s nothing to see!”

Startled by his outburst, Vivica flinched and took a step back, a flash of hurt in her eyes. She fell silent, afraid to say another word.

Sensing he’d gone too far, Finley took a deep, steadying breath, trying to calm the storm inside him. It wasn’t right to treat his mother this way.

“Mom,” he said, his voice quieter now, “have the Judson family doctor come over immediately.”
