“I never agreed to deliver them for him,” Haskell said.

Just then, a bright voice called out, “Haskell!”

He looked up to see a girl in a white puffer jacket and red scarf running toward them.

“Avril, over here,” Haskell called, waving her over.

Avril jogged up to his side, tucking her hands into her pockets. “What’s up, Haskell?” she asked cheerfully.

Haskell gestured to the briefcase. “Torrin left this here. It’s full of gifts for Larissa. Could you take care of it?”

“Gifts for Larissa?” Avril asked.

“Yes,” Haskell confirmed. “Gifts she already rejected.”

“He’s bringing back rejected gifts? That guy is as weird as ever,” Avril scoffed. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle this trash.”

She dragged the briefcase to her car and tossed it in the trunk before rejoining Haskell to enter the estate.

“Mr. Palmer, Ms. Palmer, please come in,” the butler said, giving their invitations a cursory glance before handing them back.

Haskell took the empty seat next to Zoltan, and Avril sat beside him. After settling in, she scanned the table, her eyes landing on Rigby. He met her gaze, and she quickly looked away, flustered.

“Haskell,” she whispered, “isn’t that the actor, Rigby? Why is he here? Are he and Larissa that close?”

“Yes,” Haskell replied. “Larissa gave him his big break. He wanted to come and wish her a happy birthday.”

“Oh,” Avril said, her eyes drifting back to Rigby. She had to admit, he was incredibly handsome, almost on par with Haskell himself.

As she continued to study him, she noticed something odd…
