Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 807

Hearing the butler’s words, Lucius’s brow furrowed tightly. “What happened? Spit it out!”

The butler quickly explained, “After Fergus visited you the other day, he went home and said he wanted to help you deal with your troubles. I tried to talk him out of it, told him not to be impulsive and to wait until you had recovered. But he wouldn’t listen. He just stormed off. I was worried he’d do something reckless, so I sent someone to follow him, just in case.”

Lucius’s expression grew even darker. “If someone was following him, then how did he go missing?” he growled.

The butler looked troubled. “The man I sent must have been spotted, because Fergus managed to lose him. I’ve been worried sick about him, but I didn’t dare go to the Judson estate to look for him. You needed to rest and recover from your injuries, and I didn’t want to disturb you…”

Lucius’s fury erupted. “You knew he could be in danger, and you wait until he’s been missing for days to tell me?” he roared. “If anything happens to Fergus, I’ll hold you responsible!”

With that, Lucius grit his teeth against the pain and struggled to sit up in bed. His movements were strained, but his eyes were filled with a fierce determination.

The butler rushed to his side, helping him up. “Yes, Young Master, it’s all my fault. I’ll take you to the Judson estate to find him right now!”

Larissa was in the middle of a treatment session with Haskell when the sharp ring of a phone shattered the room’s quiet.

Haskell picked it up and answered.

Crispin’s voice came through the line. “Sir, Solomon Palmer is here to see you. He’s waiting downstairs.”

Haskell’s calm expression flickered for a second, his eyes darkening slightly, but his voice remained steady. “Contraband? I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”

His nonchalance only fueled Solomon’s rage. “Don’t play dumb with me! Because of that contraband, our entire shipment has been seized! We’ve suffered massive losses! Who else would do something like this but you?”

Haskell’s reply was cool and logical. “That’s a baseless accusation. Why would I do that? What would I possibly have to gain?”

Solomon sneered, his teeth clenched. “What would you gain? It’s obvious! The Palmer family’s annual meeting is coming up. My father and I have been incredibly successful with our non-ferrous metals operation in Africa. And you? Since your accident, you left the main office in Draven’s hands, and it’s been nothing but problems and poor performance. You’re obviously terrified you’ll lose your position as heir, so you’re resorting to sabotage!”

Haskell remained unruffled. “If contraband was found in your shipment, shouldn’t your first move be to investigate your own people? See if one of them took a bribe that led to this mess? Instead, you’re here wasting precious time accusing me.”
