Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 808

Watching Haskell’s completely unbothered demeanor, Solomon’s anger surged.

“Of course I’ll have it investigated! But it had better not lead back to you, or you’ll have our grandfather to answer to!” he snarled.

With that, Solomon spun around and stormed out of the office.

Only when his footsteps had completely faded did Larissa emerge from the adjoining room. She walked over to Haskell and asked, “What do you make of what Solomon said?”

Haskell paused thoughtfully. “Solomon and his father have been operating in Africa for years. Their people are experienced. Logically, they shouldn’t have made such a massive mistake.”

Larissa nodded, catching his drift. “So you also think Jedidiah is behind this?”

Haskell was silent for a moment before finally conceding, “Yes.”

Larissa looked at him, her gaze intense, as if trying to read his mind. “Haskell,” she asked seriously, “did you already suspect that if Jedidiah wanted to send a warning to the Palmer family, the African metals operation would be his most likely target?”

Haskell took a moment before answering. “I considered the possibility. The Palmer family’s other ventures, like our new energy division, are backed by my aunt Xylee. Jedidiah wouldn’t dare touch that. And the financial sector I manage is difficult to manipulate. In comparison, bribing someone on the ground in Africa to tamper with a shipment would be the easiest way to strike at us.”

Larissa raised an eyebrow. “You’ve found someone?”

Haskell wheeled himself over to the massive floor-to-ceiling window, gazing down at the bustling city below. “Yes. He’s been appointed to lead a special internal review team starting in April. The investigation will last a month and a half. That gives us four months to gather enough evidence to ensure Jedidiah falls.”

Four months. More than enough time to dig up every last one of Jedidiah’s secrets.

Larissa walked over to stand beside him. “Alright. I’ll handle gathering the evidence. You handle reporting it.”
