Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 856

"I didn't expect Larissa to agree to let me come see you," Finley said with a wry smile. "But of course, I doubt it was out of pity. She was probably just worried about you being home alone."

Sapphira sighed. "Leopold left the country yesterday, and Larissa didn't even see him off. The fact that she's willing to let you back into the estate to keep me company is something you should be grateful for. Why worry about whether it's pity?"

Finley was taken aback, then nodded. "You're right. I shouldn't hope for anything more."

He paused before adding, "I'm going to Spire Village tomorrow. That way, Grandpa will have someone to look after him."

"Is that so?" Sapphira asked. "Will you be able to get used to life there?"

"I lived there for a while before," Finley explained. "At first, I was just trying to win over the villagers, hoping they'd put in a good word for me with Larissa. It was difficult to adjust back then. But now, after what happened with my mother, I find myself missing the peaceful days I spent in the village."

At the mention of Vivica, Sapphira, even as an outsider, found the memory unsettling. She couldn't imagine the psychological scars it left on Finley and Leopold, so she didn't press the issue.

Finley gave another bitter smile. "Looking back since Larissa returned, she's faced one attack after another from our family. First, I hired someone to ruin her face. Then Leopold tampered with her car's brakes. After that, my father kidnapped you to threaten her… It seems like my mother was the only one who, despite her harsh words, never caused Larissa any real physical harm. Maybe that's why Larissa was willing to save her."

Sapphira sighed. "No matter how awful the things your mother said were, she didn't deserve to die. Larissa is a kind child. Even if she hates you all, she knows right from wrong."

"Aunt Sapphira, you and Uncle Neville are the parents Larissa deserves," Finley said. "We don't deserve to be her family."

Then, he added firmly, "Uncle Neville will be fine. I believe in Larissa's abilities."

Sapphira smiled. "I believe in her too."

Larissa glanced at him. "Whatever. You're leaving tomorrow anyway."

Finley's eyes lit up. He had already been standing to leave, but now he sat back down.

As Wren served the meal, Sapphira didn't ask about the investigation at Judson Pharmaceuticals. She didn't want to add any more pressure on Larissa, instead piling food onto her plate and urging her to eat more after her long day.

"Mom, thanks," Larissa mumbled, devouring her food.

Finley held his knife and fork, watching Larissa eat ravenously. He wanted to do something, but he didn't know what, so he just quietly ate his own meal.

This was good enough, being able to share one last meal with Larissa before he left.
