The assembly is handing the Hunters everything they need to eradicate the shifter species.

I wonder what their true plans are.

“What kind of effects should we look out for?” Ronan asks..

“Is this all they have?” Ben asks, apparently rethinking Hazel and Ransom’s value.

“No. But if we gave you a play–by–play, we’d be here all night, and I’m sure this isn’t all you need to do all night,” Ransom.

“I would have no problem spending all night with you,” Elliot says.

I look around the table, and it looks like everyone else knows how serious he is.

Hazel takes over. “What Ransom is trying to say is that you should probably spend these quiet hours where everyone is regrouping to prioritize getting your pack.” At the shocked and suspicious looks of people around the table, she shrugs. “It is not a difficult guess. The Assembly and Hunters will be doing the

same, which means less chance of an attack.”

The Alphas agree, and Ronan dismisses the meeting. Everyone exits the room, well, everyone except for Theo, Liam, and Elliot, who are in some sort of

heated discussion..

I lean over to Hazel. “What’s up with Ransom and Elliot?”

“I can hear you,” Ransom says.

I didn’t get a gay vibe from Ransom, but you never know. There’s a whole spectrum out there.

“Are you asking if I’m gay, Sparks?” Amusement lights his eyes as he leads us out of the room.

We start making our way to the main corridor.

It’s odd how having Hazel around has managed to bring a parallel sense of normalcy.

Even Ransom has seamlessly slipped into our duo.

Liam is watching her like he’s afraid she’ll run, but wishes that she would do it at the same time.

I frown at him, but he shoots me a ‘not now‘ look, “Felix wants to see you remember.”
