Barric
Ronan is waiting for us in the arena where the warriors have gathered. Seeing our mixed packs is still something I need to get used to, even if I’m grateful that the others follow our chain of command so easily.
Aria stands off to the side, talking in hushed tones with Felix.
“We’re going to be expecting a visitor,” Ronan says without preamble. “I don’t need to explain why the next few days are vital to creating unity and safety. Your Alphas will be returning with your pack mates within the next few days. I know you’ve all been working hard to ready the motuian for them, but I am going to make some changes to the patrols.”
“It has come to our attention that an unidentified male is making his way towards us. He has shown no hostility: however, his steady progression towards the mountain is not a coincidence. As such, Alpha Roana declared that we will allow the male to come and make his move,” I announce.
The males in the room sit up straighter.
“Liam will take point and organize your patrols. He will also be creating a team to keep watch over the male and let us know when they are close. We do not wish to engage; however, our top priority is making sure the pack members arrive safely.”
There are nods of agreement.
Liam takes his place at the front. “Alright, boys, I want everyone to pair off and start sparing.”
The males make quick work of getting into groups. I move to the side, standing and watching them work together while Liam instructs, watches, and reorganizes who they go up against.
The males fight hard, using everything they know to outthink, muscle, and trick their opponents. With the mixture of packs in the session, I can see the mixture of fight styles and tactics. This is a great opportunity to learn, and as
Ronan knew he would, Liam is quick to organize groups to learn how to fight together and work with each other as well.
“How long do you think it will take for Theo to get back?”
“They should be back by tomorrow night if there aren’t any complications.”
“And if there are? How long do we wait to send a team after them?”
“We’ll give them another two days. If they aren’t back, we’ll send Sebastian to track them.”
I give him a noncommittal grunt.
The moving parts keep adding up. If we don’t keep a firm hold on everything, I can see it getting out of hand quickly.
“So I’m guessing our training is going to be put on pause for today,” Aria says, saddling up to us.
Without thinking, my hand goes to the long locks of her ponytail. “Consider it a day off.”
“Finally,” Felix groans dramatically, “I was in desperate need of a skin reset.”
“Where the hell are you going to find skincare?”
