Zander threw his clothes on haphazardly, crossing the room in two massive strides to grab Yvonne by the shoulders.
"Are you out of your mind! How could you pull such a despicable stunt!"
"You have completely disappointed me. You are absolutely vile!"
The searing pain in her shoulders brought tears instantly spilling from Yvonne's eyes.
But instead of flinching away, she threw her arms around Zander's arm.
She sobbed, her voice breaking with manufactured agony.
"Yes! I drugged you! But Zander, what did I do wrong? I just love you too much!"
Zander shoved her away, his eyes wide with fury.
"Look at what you've turned into!"
"You were like a little sister to me! How could you... how could you do something like this?"
"You are so low, so utterly shameless!"
Zander's eyes were bloodshot with rage.
Refusing to back down, Yvonne retorted, "Zander, why? Whatever Eliza can give you, I can give you too. Last night, you enjoyed it, didn't you? Why? Why can't it be me!"
"Shut up! I thought of you as a sister, and she is my wife! How is there any comparison?"
Yvonne shrieked like a lunatic, "Sister, sister! Who wants to be your sister! We don't even have any blood ties, what kind of sister am I!"
"You know it. I love you. I have always loved you—the way a woman loves a man!"
Infuriated by her blatant lack of remorse, Zander raised his hand to strike her.
Tears streaming down her face, Yvonne tilted her chin up defiantly, meeting his raised hand with a stubborn roar. "Hit me then! We've already slept together. Even if you beat me to death, what's done is done!"
Seeing Zander's hand frozen in the air, refusing to fall, Yvonne's tears flowed faster.
"Zander, I knew you cared about me. You can't bear to hit me, can you?"
"You've already done more than enough for a woman like Eliza. And what did she do? She turned right around and threw herself at another man! She doesn't even love you!"
With that, Zander spun on his heel and headed for the door.
He didn't want to spend another second in this sickening room.
"Stop right there!"
A shrill, agonizing scream ripped through the air behind him.
Zander halted, glancing back with deep impatience.
In the next second, his pupils constricted in horror.
At some point, Yvonne had snatched a sharp paring knife from the fruit bowl on the nightstand.
The blade was pressed firmly against the artery in her wrist.
Bright red beads of blood were already welling up along the sharp metal edge.
"Yvonne! Put the knife down! Have you lost your mind!" Zander roared, trying to suppress his panic.
