"Yes, I'm out of my mind! You drove me to this!"
Yvonne collapsed on the bed, her hair a tangled mess as she screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Zander, do you really think you can just pay me off and send me away!"
"You slept with me, but you don't even have the guts to admit it! What kind of man are you! If you kick me out, I'll die right here in front of you!"
Zander was on the verge of a breakdown. Softening his tone, he pleaded, "Yvonne, we aren't kids anymore. The only woman I love is Eliza, and you've known that since we were young. Why are you so obsessed?"
Yvonne suddenly laughed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Zander, do you really love her? Ask yourself. Do you actually love her, or is it just your bruised ego and male possessiveness?"
Her words made Zander freeze.
He loved Eliza. Of course he loved her. He was absolutely certain of it.
But when forced to actually think about it, he couldn't find a single piece of evidence to prove his love.
Seeing him falter, the smug smile on Yvonne's face widened.
Yet the knife against her pulse didn't budge an inch.
"Zander, you have nothing to say, do you?" she chuckled, fresh tears spilling down her cheeks.
"Because you can fool Eliza, and you can fool everyone else, but you can't fool me! I'm the one who sat back and watched you make your choices, time and time again!"
She unleashed everything, reveling in the twisted thrill of revenge.
"You say you love her? Do you remember her most important dance competition three years ago? She prepared for six solid months. It was the closest she ever got to her dream!"
At the time, he just assumed Eliza was gentle and understanding. He thought she would simply let it go.
Seeing the sheer agony on his face, Yvonne didn't think it was enough. She wanted to verbally rip him apart.
"During the earthquake, out on the ocean, during those two life-and-death moments... you didn't choose to save your wife. You chose to save me! Doesn't that prove that I'm more important to you than she is?"
"No! That's not how it was!" Zander finally broke, letting out a tormented roar.
"I just saw you as a younger sister. You've been sickly since you were little, and I was used to taking care of you... I thought... I thought Eliza was strong enough to understand!"
The excuse he had used countless times sounded so pathetic and hollow now. He couldn't even convince himself.
Yvonne laughed again.
