Kaelani’s fingers moved in deiberate arcs precise, almost delicate drawing invisible lines through the air. Violet light. followed the motion like ink in water, threading itself into existence at her command.

The current gathered at her palm, coiling tighter and brighter.

Her eyes burned violet, the color spilling through her irises like liquid light

She spoke then, not in common tongue but in Vaelorin, the ancient cadetice smooth and resonant as it rolled through the room

“Vaenor en’sharin vel thrae.

Teralis mor’kai en venar.

Aelith varos-tenar si vel.”

The air responded.

The violet current surged upward from her hand and struck the ceiling in a silent burst of light. It spread outward, shaping itself into a massive, translucent disk suspended above them.

A clock.

Its edges shimmered with sigils carved in violet flame. At its center, two elongated hands formed and began to move.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

The sound was soft, but it filled the room-measured and unrelenting.

Kaelani lowered her hand.

“For the next ten minutes,” she said evenly, her gaze shifting between Christian and Elara, “we’re going to have a calm conversation.”

The clock continued its steady rhythm overhead.

“I suggest you both take a seat.”

Christian stared up at the violet construct, jaw tightening as the ticking echoed through the hall.

“What the hell is that?” he snapped. “Some kind of voodoo?”

Elara’s eyes flicked between the ceiling and Kaelani, tension creeping into her posture.

“Did you just curse us?”

Kaelani looked almost amused.

“It’s for protection.”

Christian let out a sharp laugh. “You’re going to need it if you think you can invade my pack and drag that- toward Garrick. “disgrace through my doors.”

“The protection isn’t for me,” she replied.

The construct cast shifting violet light across the room.

“It’s for you.”

Christian’s expression stilled.

Elara glanced at him

Neither of them spoke.

Kaelani’s gaze moved between them, calm and unblinking

“You see,” she carried on, “I have a great deal of animosity toward both of you.”

“And though I’ve spent time learning how to control my powers…”

A faint flicker of violet traced her irises.

“I haven’t fully mastered my temper.”

The ticking continued overhead.

“So if either of you says something vile to me–which I know you will-this will ensure I don’t light your asses up.”

A tight coil of violet current pulsed between her fingertips-dense. Contained. Lethal.

The air crackled around it.

She let the current fade slowly before gesturing toward the sitting area.

“Have a seat.”

Christian descended the stairs like every step offended him. Elara followed, spine straight with fury. They chose the same couch, sitting close enough that their shoulders nearly touched, united in defiance.

Christian glanced toward the staff and guards lingering near the staircase.

“What are you all staring at?” he barked. “Get back to work.”

“No,” Kaelani said firmly.

Every head turned toward her.

“They can stay.”

Her gaze swept the room, composed and assessing.

“They’ll serve as witnesses.”

Kaelani crossed the room and took the couch opposite the twins, settling back with poised ease, as though this were nothing more than a casual gathering.

Elara’s gaze tracked her as she passed, her nostrils flaring as she scented the air.

It hit instantly.

Julian’s scent.

All over her.

Rage flashed through Elara’s eyes before she could mask it. Then her attention dropped to Kaelani’s neck.

To the mark.

Fresh. Unmistakable.

Kaelani met her eyes without flinching. She didn’t attempt to conceal her mark. She simply allowed Elara to see it allowed the
