Let Them Kneel (kaelani and Julian) novel Chapter 229

Chapter 229

Kaelani and Julian walked hand in hand through the grand promenade that led toward the Seelie palace, its marble pathways winding between cascading fountains and archways woven with living vines. Sunlight poured over the city in soft gold, catching in crystalline spires and dancing across balconies draped in vibrant blooms.

Kaelani took it in slowly.

The realm felt nothing like the fractured echoes she had glimpsed in Lyressa’s dreamwalks. There was no distortion here. No grief lingering in the air.

It was vibrant.

Alive.

She could feel itthe joy, the warmth, the steady pulse of magic humming beneath her feet, brushing against her senses like a quiet welcome.

Onlookers began to gather along the promenade. Some paused midconversation. Others stepped aside respectfully. There were subtle waves, soft inclinations of the head, eyes gleaming not only with gratitude, but with unmistakable excitement.

They were not staring at her with suspicion.

They were watching her with hope.

As they approached the sweeping steps of the palace, the guards stationed along the ascent shifted from their rigid defensive stances. Silver armor caught the light as they lowered their weapons in unison and bowed their heads.

Welcome, Your Majesty, one of them said clearly.

Queen Lyressa awaits your arrival.

Kaelani offered a small, almost shy smile and nodded in acknowledgment before climbing the palace steps with Julian at her side.

The great doors opened before they reached them.

Inside, the palace gleamed with living lightcrystalline pillars veined with gold, vaulted ceilings woven with flowering vines that shimmered softly as though breathing.

Lyressa was already approaching, the Seers moving in quiet formation behind her.

She did not hesitate.

She stepped forward and drew Kaelani into a warm embrace.

Thank you for coming,Lyressa said softly.

Kaelani returned the hug, still adjusting to the ease with which she was welcomed here. When they parted, the Seers stepped forward one by one and bowed their heads deeply.

Welcome home, my Queen, they said in unison.

The words settled over Kaelani in a way she had not prepared for.

She was still learning how to wear that title without feeling as though it belonged to someone else.

Lyressa’s gaze softened knowingly.

This evening, we will prepare a feast in your honor,” she said. The court is eager to celebrate what you have done for this realm.

She gestured lightly toward the inner corridors.

My attendants will prepare the royal guest chambers for you and your mate. Unless, of course, you prefer to reside in your own palace.

Kaelani glanced briefly at Julian before returning her attention to Lyressa.

Thank you,she said graciously. “Your accommodations will be perfect. I thought I might show Julian the realm if that’s okay.”

Lyressa smiled.

Of course. It is as much his to witness as it is yours.

They left the palace through the western colonnade, where marble terraces gave way to rolling green hills that stretched toward a wide, glistening river. The air was warm but carried a crispness unique to the Seelie realm, sunlight spilling generously across fields of silvertipped grass that shimmered with every passing breeze.

Julian slowed slightly as the landscape opened before them.

The Seelie side of the river gleamed in full daylight. Majestic trees arched along its banks, their blossoms pale gold and ivory, petals drifting lazily across the water’s surface.

It felt like something lifted from the pages of a children’s storybook.

Downriver, however, the landscape subtly shifted.

The light did not disappearit deepened. The Unseelie court rose from the terrain like a living extension of it rather than something imposed upon it.

Julian exhaled slowly.

This place looks like something out of a cartoon,he admitted. Enchanting. Magical. Almost too perfect to be real.

Kaelani smiled softly.
