The fairies rose again, circling above Kaelani and Julian before showering them both in a final cascade of shimmering dust. It caught in Kaelani’s hair and along Julian’s sandy tresses, clinging to fabric and skin, glowing faintly against violet silk and dark ceremonial cloth.
They stood there beneath the golden fall, laughing softly as the celebration roared below them.
And for a fleeting moment, it felt less like a feast-
and more like a coronation.
The cheering did not fade gradually.
It stopped.
Abruptly.
The applause died mid–echo, voices cutting off in uneasy unison.
Kaelani felt it before she fully understood it.

Her smile faltered slightly as her eyes dropped toward the crowd below.
