Monique stared at him. “You… you’re unbelievable!”
Leon’s bluntness left her completely at a loss.
They had known each other for so many years, yet he was cutting her off without the slightest hesitation.
In the end, she stormed out of the office.
And the moment she stepped through the door, all traces of her usual tough-girl image disappeared.
She left in tears.
Leon rubbed his temples irritably.
“This is so damn annoying.”
But after seeing the way Monique reacted, he finally, completely believed what Evan had told him over the phone.
Monique had feelings for him.
He had no idea when those feelings had started.
But if she really did see him that way, then there was no chance she had said anything nice to Jennifer during those private conversations.
No wonder Jennifer had reacted so strongly back then.
So that was it.
He had simply been too careless.
Before Monique returned to Harbor City, the Redson family had already given Jennifer plenty of trouble, but Jennifer’s reactions had never been quite that intense.
It was only after Monique came back that Jennifer seemed to lose control at every turn.
Why hadn’t he trusted her a little more back then?
Leon was overwhelmed with regret.
Shane walked in.
“Mr. Redson.”
“Speak.”
Leon was already in a foul mood, and the single word came out ice-cold.
Working around him lately had become incredibly stressful for Shane.
When Shane had first started working for Leon, she had actually considered herself lucky.
Compared with bosses like Evan and Felix, Leon had always been relatively easygoing.
He was approachable enough, and working for him had never been particularly difficult.
But apparently, that was only because he had never had anything serious to worry about before.
Now?
He wasn’t easygoing at all.
Ever since Jennifer disappeared from Harbor City, Leon had been losing his temper almost every day.
Shane took a breath.
“Ms. Monique left crying.”
Leon had always cared about Monique before, so Shane hadn’t dared leave something like that unreported.
