Getting through to Aaron wasn’t going to be easy.
Now that Aaron had gotten what he wanted, why would he bother giving Evan the time of day?
Evan was starting to panic.
After spending the entire day trying and failing to reach Aaron’s side, he was barely holding it together.
“That damn Aaron! He actually went back on his word!”
Yara and Amos were both with Evan, and neither of them could relax either.
Amos said, “He was never exactly a man of his word.”
Evan’s head was pounding.
He rubbed his aching temples, irritation and anxiety churning inside him.
Yara didn’t say a word.
She didn’t know what to say anymore.
The Wright family was still in Aaron’s hands, and they had absolutely no idea what condition they were in.
Then, just when things couldn’t seem to get any worse, another shocking piece of news arrived.
Felix...
Was dead.
The moment the report came in, both Amos and Evan froze.
Their expressions stiffened at the same time as they stared at the man who had delivered the news.
Amos blinked. “What the hell did you just say?”
“Mr. Henderson is dead.”
Evan’s jaw tightened.
“What do you mean, dead?”
Felix was dead?
No.
Impossible.
How could someone like Felix die that easily?
In Evan’s mind, Felix had become nothing but trouble, the man who had completely wrecked whatever remained between him and Stella.
How could someone like that simply die?
“He died in a plane crash on his way back to Eirden.”
Evan went still.
So did Amos.
A plane crash.
“There were no remains recovered.”
Both men stiffened again.
Those words sent a chill through them.
Evan’s voice came out strained.
“How do they even know Felix was on that plane?”
