After Leon’s grandparents rejected Monique, they had introduced him to several other young women from prominent families.
Leon had managed to offend every single one of them.
So now, other than Monique, there really wasn’t anyone willing to marry him.
Leon laughed.
“So you’re basically choosing between Jennifer and Monique?”
If there had been even a third option, Monique probably wouldn’t have gotten another chance either.
Vivian’s expression hardened.
“Exactly. And right now, no one is more suitable for you than Monique.”
Leon gave her a cold look.
“Don’t you think I know who’s suitable for me?”
“We know you think Jennifer is. But none of us will ever agree to it.”
Vivian believed she knew exactly what kind of woman Jennifer was.
“Stop thinking about being with her. We wouldn’t accept her even when she was carrying your child. Now that the baby’s gone, there’s even less reason to.”
Every word came out firm and ruthless.
Apparently, she already knew the baby was gone.
Of course it was.
With Jennifer’s fierce personality, how could she possibly have kept it?
And that same stubborn streak was exactly why Vivian and Leon’s grandparents would never accept her.
“Our family has no intention of ending up with another Stella Rowan.”
Everyone in Harbor City knew what Stella had put the Wright family through during that time.
If Jennifer married into the Redson family, wouldn’t she just become a second Stella?
No family could handle a daughter-in-law like that.
Leon let out a cold laugh.
“Has it ever occurred to you that if she does become like Stella, it’ll be because you drove her to it?”
Day after day, all they did was make people miserable, then act offended when those people fought back.
Vivian’s face changed.
“You…”
Leon cut her off.
“If you accepted Jennifer and treated her well, why would she ever become like Stella?”
As far as Leon was concerned, Stella had been perfectly reasonable when she first married into the Wright family.
Everything that came later had been forced out of her by the way they treated her.
If the Wright family had treated Stella properly from the beginning, none of those later disasters would ever have happened.
The moment Vivian heard Leon suggesting that she should treat Jennifer well, her temper flared even hotter.
