Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 1164

Just like Evan.

Back in Harbor City, there had been times when he hated Stella with everything he had.

But even then, he had never actually wanted her dead.

Before Leon could respond, Lucas continued,

“Jennifer wouldn’t be this afraid unless your family had made her feel like she was in danger.”

“You’ve seen how they’ve treated her lately.”

There was no need to explain what the Redson family’s attitude toward Jennifer had been like.

Especially Monique and Vivian.

At this point, neither of them even bothered pretending anymore.

Jennifer had barely returned before Monique went straight to see her.

Leon had already made his position perfectly clear to Monique.

And yet what good had that done?

“I’ll protect her,” Leon said.

Lucas looked at him.

“You will? You think Evan didn’t say the same thing?”

Leon fell silent.

“When Evan used Stella to trade for Yara, didn’t he tell Stella the exact same thing? That he’d protect her?”

Leon’s chest tightened even more.

Lucas continued,

“And in that situation, Aaron was Stella’s own biological brother. Who would’ve thought things would end the way they did?”

That had been the last time Evan ever saw Stella.

She had been hurt right in front of him.

He couldn’t even protect her when she was standing before his eyes.

So with the way the Redson family was treating Jennifer now, what made Leon so sure he could keep her safe?

The hardest thing to guard against was something you never saw coming.

Some dangers simply couldn’t be prevented, no matter how careful you were.

“Enough,” Leon said hoarsely.

He had asked Lucas out because he wanted someone to ease his mind.

Someone to give him a little confidence.

Instead, Lucas was only making him feel worse.

Lucas looked at him.

“I don’t think you should’ve brought Jennifer back.”
