Vivian was even more displeased by Jennifer’s attitude.
What mother didn’t think her own son was the best?
Hearing Jennifer insist so firmly that she wanted to leave Leon only made Vivian angrier.
At this point, it seemed like everything Jennifer did rubbed her the wrong way.
“You want to leave? Fine.”
“I’ll send you away myself.”
“No.”
Jennifer refused without even thinking.
Let Vivian arrange her departure?
That wouldn’t be sending her away.
That would be sending her straight to her grave.
Jennifer might not be the smartest person in the world, but even she knew by now that Vivian and Monique wanted her dead.
Vivian’s face darkened further at the immediate refusal.
“You don’t want to leave?”
“I do. Just not with your help.”
Of course Jennifer wanted to leave.
She genuinely wanted to stay far away from Leon.
She needed to.
Vivian gave her a cold look.
“Stella helped you get out of Harbor City last time. What are you going to do now?”
Stella was dead.
Jennifer had practically no one left to help her.
And Vivian knew exactly how obsessed her son had become with Jennifer.
Under these circumstances, there was no way Jennifer could slip away from Leon on her own.
“That’s none of your concern.”
Jennifer looked at her coolly.
“Instead of coming here to look down on me and humiliate me, maybe you should spend that energy figuring out how to get Leon to marry Monique.”
“You’ve already spread the news this far. If he refuses to marry her...”
Jennifer paused, then gave a mocking little laugh.
If Leon flat-out refused when the time came, both the Redson family and the Hayes family would be publicly humiliated.
Vivian’s expression sank.
Jennifer smiled.
