“The damage this could do to the Redson family won’t be small.”
Leon shrugged.
“The people who caused this mess aren’t worried, so why should I be?”
Jennifer went quiet.
The people who caused it?
Well, when he put it that way...
“If they’re so capable, they can marry Monique themselves,” Leon said casually.
They wanted to force Monique on him?
That only worked if he agreed.
Now the Redson family was blaming him for running away.
But when they made all those decisions behind his back, why hadn’t they considered what might happen?
And now they wanted to blame him?
Please.
Leon couldn’t care less.
He glanced at Jennifer.
“Come here. Let me hold you.”
His voice softened noticeably whenever he spoke to her.
And Leon could tell that ever since he had taken Jennifer and left, her attitude toward him had softened too.
She had been shocked at first, almost too stunned to process it.
But then again, no one had ever expected Leon to simply take her and walk away when things reached this point.
Jennifer stepped toward him.
The moment she was within reach, Leon pulled her straight into his arms.
“Can you believe me now?” he asked.
Jennifer looked up at him.
“You certainly have a unique way of stepping up.”
Reckless, yes.
But she had to admit, Leon like this made her feel surprisingly safe.
If only he hadn’t been so blind about Monique before.
Maybe none of this would ever have happened.
Leon said, “Unique or not, this was the only road left for us.”
Jennifer fell silent.
The only road.
He wasn’t wrong.
Before this, Jennifer had believed there was no way forward for them at all.
Because she had never imagined Leon would actually do this.
He was the man running Redson Corporation.
He was mature.
Steady.
Running away like this was childish and ridiculous.
Why would a man like him ever do something like that?
