Stella said it outright.
Before, she had only been quietly planning to leave.
But now, she was saying it to his face.
Felix stared at her.
“What did you say?”
“From now on, you go your way and I’ll go mine. We have nothing to do with each other.”
Every word was cold and firm.
She was truly exhausted.
She couldn’t see through any of it anymore.
And she didn’t want to.
She didn’t want to keep getting dragged into this endless mess.
Right or wrong, guilt or blame, she didn’t care anymore.
She wanted nothing more to do with any of it.
Felix’s expression darkened.
“You want to go back to Harbor City and find him?”
Stella fell silent.
Find him.
Evan?
She closed her eyes.
She didn’t answer.
But all she felt was exhaustion.
She had never planned to go back to Evan.
What would she even go back for?
To apologize?
To make it up to him?
No.
She didn’t want to.
Even knowing now that everything she had done before might have been wrong, she still didn’t want to face any of it.
“Felix, I’m really tired,” she said quietly. “Please just let me go.”
“Let you go so you can run back to Evan?”
Stella said nothing.
“Don’t even think about it, Stella.”
She looked at him.
“What happened is already in the past,” Felix said, his voice growing harsher. “There’s no going back. I need you to understand that.”
This was the first time he had spoken to her this sharply.
Maybe...
Maybe learning that everything from before had been based on a mistake, combined with Stella’s obvious reaction to Evan, had finally scared him.
He had already failed to win her heart back all this time.
And now the past had been ripped open again, only making her even colder toward him.
Stella looked at him tiredly.
