Even with all that hatred between them, he had ultimately managed to step out of Stella’s life.

That alone showed just how deeply he had cared about her.

But…

In the end, even feelings like that had still lost to something else that weighed more heavily in his heart.

The fact that he could finally let go now was probably the best outcome for Stella.

“This is good.”

Remi paused before adding,

“Now there’s only your brother, Aaron. We still don’t know what he plans to do.”

And somehow, the quieter things became, the more unsettling it felt.

After all, Aaron had kept Yara by his side.

That alone showed that Yara had become someone special to him.

And people who held that kind of place in someone’s heart were often the ones with the most influence.

Stella gave a cold laugh.

“Aaron?”

Remi said nothing.

“We’ll wait and see,” Stella said. “If he leaves me alone, I’ll leave him alone. But if he makes a move…”

She didn’t finish the sentence.

But if Aaron really let Yara influence him and came after her…

Stella wasn’t going to simply sit there and wait to die.

Some mistakes had already been made.

There was no changing that now.

Remi kept a close watch on Aaron’s movements.

And she wasn’t the only one.

Far away in Harbor City, Felix was watching him too.

He knew Yara was still with Aaron.

Felix had always been sharp and calculating.

Anything Stella had thought of, he had probably already considered.

And chances were, he had thought of things she hadn’t.

At Hernandez Corporation headquarters, much of the business that had stalled after Felix left was up and running again.

The operations he had moved to Eirden had also been transferred back.

Everything he had once abandoned for Stella, he was slowly picking up again.

Felix stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, a cigarette between his fingers as he stared out at the ocean in the distance.

Behind him, Jack answered a phone call.

His expression darkened almost immediately.

“Understood,” he said coldly.

After hanging up, he walked over to Felix.

“Sir, Mr. Hogarth’s people are getting close to Sima Mountain.”

Felix said nothing.

His fingers tightened around the cigarette, crushing the filter between them.

His eyes turned dark.
