What he had once convinced himself was love had ultimately left her covered in wounds.

Ever since returning from the town near Sima Mountain, Felix had suddenly come to understand many things.

Stella had never been happy with him.

Their ways of thinking were simply too different.

That wasn’t something time could fix.

He wanted her to be happy for the rest of her life.

He wanted her to finally have the quiet, peaceful life she had always wanted.

But now, it seemed Aaron was about to destroy that peace.

Felix drew a slow breath.

“Aaron, she’s your biological sister. Are you really going to do this because of Yara…”

“I just want to bring her home.”

Aaron cut him off before he could finish.

His tone was every bit as firm as Felix’s.

Felix’s breathing grew heavier.

“Then I guess there’s nothing left for us to discuss.”

With that, he ended the call without giving Aaron a chance to respond.

The entire office seemed to turn colder.

Chapter 1249

Along time passed.

Only after Felix had finished three cigarettes did he finally speak.

“Looks like she’ll have to go back to Eirden one more time.”

Jack’s heart jolted at those words.

“That could get Ms. Rowan killed.”

Felix said nothing.

Killed.

Yara probably really did want Stella dead now.

Whether she actually had the ability to make that happen was another matter.

Felix narrowed his eyes.

Before he could say anything, Jack continued,

“Back in the town near Sima Mountain, it was obvious that Ms. Rowan…”

He trailed off.

After a moment, Jack sighed.

“She seems to have lost the will to keep living.”

Everything with Evan had already drained all of Stella’s strength.

Then she had gone back to Eirden and suffered even more.

The people closest to her had hurt her deeply.

She had gone so far as to fake her own death just to escape, only to end up trapped by Felix afterward.

After everything she had been through, it wasn’t hard to imagine how badly it had worn her down.

Felix’s breathing grew heavier.

He closed his eyes.

For a moment, Jack’s words seemed to turn the blood in his veins cold.

She had lost the will to live?

That was exactly why Felix didn’t want Aaron dragging her back to Eirden again.

If Yara weren’t there, perhaps there wouldn’t be as much to worry about.

After everything that happened last time, Aaron had probably realized that Stella would never think the way he did.

He couldn’t keep treating her according to the rules and methods he had lived by all his life.

But Yara changed everything.

Felix thought of how exhausted Stella had looked every time she faced him near Sima Mountain.

His chest tightened painfully.

When he opened his eyes again, they were cold.

He sent a location to Michael Hogarth.

“Looks like she’ll have to go back to Eirden after all.”

His voice was calm.

“But Aaron doesn’t get to decide how she goes back.”

Then Felix called Evan.

At that moment, Evan was at Wright Corporation.

After everything that had happened to the Wright family, Aaron had given Evan several projects to help the company recover.

Maybe it was compensation.

Or maybe it had something to do with Yara.

Either

way, Wright Corporation was slowly getting back on its feet.

When Evan saw Felix’s name on the screen, irritation flashed in his eyes.

But he answered anyway.

“Talk.”

“Aaron probably isn’t going to give up on bringing her back to Eirden.”

Evan’s grip on the phone tightened.

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Aaron is her biological brother. After what happened last time, there’s no way he doesn’t understand what Stella wants.”

Evan said nothing.

“So if he’s still this determined to bring her back to Eirden, I don’t need to spell out why.”

Evan’s expression darkened.

“You’re saying this is because of Yara?”
