aron humiliated me like that today because of Stella. How am I supposed to just let it go?”

Evan fell silent.

“Or even now, are you still going to protect her over the?”

Stella Rowan.

Yara hadn’t even qualified as an option in Aaron’s eyes.

But what about in her own brother’s eyes?

Did she not matter enough to be chosen there either?

“Don’t do anything reckless,” Evan warned. “Felix is in Eirden now too.”

If what Yara said was true, Michael and Aaron were both fiercely protective of Stella now.

And Felix had arrived in Eirden as well.

If Yara dared do anything to Stella, none of those men would let her get away with it.

Aaron’s attitude worried Evan most of all.

He had forcibly kept Yara by his side.

Yet now he was preparing to marry into the Merlin family.

So apparently, he really had only ever treated Yara like a pet.

A pet.

How could someone from the Wright family ever be reduced to that?

Stella slept straight through until ten the next morning.

When she woke, Michael had already had food prepared for her.

She had been exhausted.

It was probably the best sleep she’d had in a long time.

“Dad.”

The moment she saw Michael, Stella called out softly, her voice still heavy with sleep.

Michael smiled at her indulgently.

“I was worried you’d wake up hungry, but I couldn’t bring myself to disturb you.”

He had already had someone look into everything Stella had been through recently.

From Seaborne to Sevi Valley, then back to Seaborne, and finally to the town near Sima Mountain.

She had spent that entire stretch constantly on the move.

She had finally settled down for a while near Sima Mountain, but she had been injured then.

der those circumstances, getting a decent night’s sleep had probably been impossible.

“I’m not really hungry,” Stella said.

She hadn’t felt hungry while she was asleep.

Now that she was awake, though, she was starting to feel it.

Michael said,

“After you eat, I’ve arranged for a medical team to give you a full checkup.”

She was far too thin.

Right now, Stella looked like she was practically skin and bones.

“Okay.”

Stella was unusually obedient with Michael now.

Seeing her cooperate so readily made the indulgence in his smile deepen.

It felt good simply having his daughter safely beside him again.

Felix had been calling her since the night before.

So had Evan.

The calls only stopped after her phone finally ran out of battery.

Of course, Stella had put it on silent.

Whenever she didn’t feel like dealing with her phone, neither Felix nor Evan could disturb her.

After breakfast, Michael said,

“That Wright woman has already moved out of the estate.”

“Your brother will probably be busy with that little pet of his for a while, so you can go home without worrying about running into her.”

Stella paused.

Yara had moved out of the estate?

Michael frowned.

“Aaron really has lost all sense. Bringing just anyone into the family home.”

That was what irritated him most.

No matter what Aaron had done in the past, he had never brought a woman back to live at the estate.

Yet Yara had been staying there for quite some time.

So apparently, she really did occupy a different place in Aaron’s mind.

Michael could only hope his son hadn’t completely lost his head.
