Chapter 1290

No matter how small the matter was, if Michael hadn’t authorized it to be shared, no one around him would dare leak a single word.
Aaron knew that perfectly well.
And yet here he was, actually trying to get information about Evan out of Michael’s people.
His anger surged.
“You really think I won’t kill you?” he snapped.
David didn’t flinch.
“Go ahead.”
Aaron’s expression darkened.
Russ stood behind David, staring at Aaron just as coldly.
One of them was Michael’s most trusted aide.
The other had now been assigned to protect Stella.
So if Aaron wanted to see either Stella or Michael tonight, he would have to get past both of them.
And unless he killed them, neither man was going to move.
But if Aaron actually laid a hand on either of them….
Then neither Yara nor Evan would survive.
And Aaron himself would suffer the consequences too.
He knew exactly how much David and Russ meant to Michael.
No matter how ruthless and bloodthirsty Aaron had been outside these walls over the years, even he didn’t dare turn that ruthlessness against his father’s most trusted men.
He forced himself to endure it.
Again and again.
Somehow, he managed to suppress the murderous rage boiling inside him.
Finally, he lowered the gun, put it away, and turned back toward the elevator.
David and Russ both let out a quiet breath once he was gone.
Only after the elevator began descending did Russ speak.
“Looks like your boss really isn’t going to tolerate Ms. Wright much longer.”
David narrowed his eyes.
“I thought she was nothing more than a plaything.

“But now? She has far too much influence over him.”
Russ nodded.
Aaron had never gone this far for a woman before.
Michael had already been deeply disappointed in him lately.
And after what happened tonight…
That disappointment was only going to get worse.
Russ asked,
“Has Mr. Wright already fallen into our people’s hands?”
“No word yet.”
But Yara had clearly said over the phone that she could no longer reach him.
David pulled out his phone and started making calls.
He checked with everyone involved in the search.
But after going through them one by one, the answer was the same.
They hadn’t found Evan yet.
A rat was always good at finding somewhere to hide.
Russ frowned.
“So no one actually has him? He just stopped answering his phone?”
And that alone had been enough to make Aaron react like this?
Then Yara definitely couldn’t be allowed to remain by his side much longer.
Something this serious had happened tonight.
There was no way David wouldn’t report it to Michael.
After all, this was hardly a minor matter for the Hogarth family.
So the next morning, the moment Michael woke up, David told him everything.
Stella happened to wake around the same time.
When she walked into Michael’s room, she caught the end of David’s report.
