Chapter 1299

Exactly.

The moment Stella learned Evan wasn’t even in Michael’s hands, she had still deliberately said all of that to Aaron.

Wasn’t she obviously trying to take advantage of him?

“Let him be mad,” Remi said, clearly still holding a grudge.

“Stella’s his sister either way. So what if she rips him off? What’s he going to do about it?”

Jane nodded.

“Fair point.”

In all these years, she had never seen Aaron get taken advantage of before.

If his own sister actually managed to pull it off this time, that would be pretty entertaining.

Remi frowned.

“But where is Evan, then? How does someone just disappear like that?”

And in Eirden, of all places.

Right now, the person with the strongest reason to go after him was probably Michael.

Yara’s presence alone had already infuriated him.

And now Evan had shown up too.

Michael would obviously assume Evan had come to bother his daughter again.

He was probably furious enough to kill someone.

Stella shrugged.

“Who knows?”

She didn’t care anymore.

As far as she was concerned, if Aaron’s mines actually ended up in her hands, that would be more than enough.

Jane really was an excellent shot.

After spending the entire morning with her, Stella’s accuracy improved considerably.

She wasn’t nearly as nervous around a gun anymore either.

Just as Jane had promised, she really could teach.

The three of them had lunch together before splitting up.

Remi stayed with Stella afterward.

As they walked, Stella glanced at the diamond necklace around Remi’s neck.

Remi followed her gaze and looked down.

“Pretty, right? Jane gave it to me.

She really likes giving people gifts.”

“Yeah.”

Remi nodded.

Every time she saw Jane, Jane gave her something.

According to Jane, they were always just “little gifts.”

But one glance was enough to tell that there was nothing little about their price tags.

“She gave you something too?”

“Last night.”

Remi laughed.

“She really is something.”

There weren’t many people who genuinely enjoyed giving gifts this much.

Stella was quiet for a moment.

“Is she really going to marry Aaron?”

Aaron.

She didn’t even call him her brother anymore.

That alone showed just how disappointed she was in him.

Remi glanced at her.

“Didn’t you hear her? She’s not *marrying* him. They’re just getting what they need from each other.”

Stella fell silent.

Getting what they needed from each other.

But could marriage really be that simple?

In Stella’s experience, getting married could be easy.

Getting out of a marriage afterward was often anything but.

Especially when the other person was Aaron.

“Anyway, you don’t need to worry about Jane,” Remi said. “If she doesn’t get what she wants out of this, the one who’ll suffer in the end will be your brother.”

Remi wasn’t worried about Jane in the slightest.

As far as she was concerned, Jane was already doing people a favor if she didn’t make *them* suffer.

Who in the world could possibly take advantage of her?

The person capable of that probably hadn’t even been born yet.

“I’m not worried about her,” Stella said.

Remi grinned.

“Oh, playing it cool now? I can tell you like Jane.”

“I like her too.”

Remi had always admired Jane’s confidence, elegance, and commanding presence.
