Chapter 1303
entire back had been beaten raw and bloody.
Michael must’ve been heartbroken beyond measure to punish him so severely.
When a staff member saw Stella enter, he greeted her respectfully.
“Ms. Rowan.”
Only then did Aaron realize she was there.
He turned his head slightly and glanced at her.
After a single look, he turned away again.
Stella raised a hand, signaling for everyone to leave.
They set down what they were holding and filed out.
Once Stella and Aaron were alone, she walked over and sat beside him.
She picked up the antiseptic the doctor had left behind, took a large cotton ball, and began cleaning his wounds bit by bit.
Aaron hissed in pain the instant the soaked cotton touched his skin.
Stella didn’t stop. Instead, she pressed down even harder.
“Do you have some kind of grudge against me?” Aaron asked.
“Yes.”
Aaron fell silent.
Her answer made his breath catch. He was in too much pain to keep talking.
The wounds across his back were severe.
“You should go to the hospital,” Stella said.
“I’m not going.”
They’d treated far worse injuries at home before, including gunshot wounds.
This was nothing by comparison. There was no need to go to a hospital.
Stella didn’t bother arguing with him.
“Remember what you promised me,” Aaron said. “Gray is already handling the paperwork.”
He was talking about the mines.
Stella smiled faintly at his generosity.
“You’re not the kind of man who would give up this much for a woman. Tell me, what are you plotting this time?”
She asked him outright.
It wasn’t just that she didn’t believe him. Hardly anyone would.

In the past, Aaron probably hadn’t hidden his plans from Michael. That was why Michael had never reacted strongly to the things he’d done.
But this time, Aaron apparently hadn’t told anyone anything.
As far as everyone could see, he was giving up everything for a woman.
Yet from what Stella knew about his relationship with Yara, his feelings for her didn’t seem to be what everyone assumed.
“Is that really the kind of man you think I am?” Aaron asked. “Or do you think I’m incapable of loving someone that much?”
Stella laughed.
“No, it’s not that you’re incapable of it. You really are exactly that kind of man.”
He would sell out anyone and anything if it served his interests.
Aaron drew a deep breath.
“It looks like you really don’t consider me your brother anymore.”
She hadn’t called him “Aaron” even once since coming back.
Stella didn’t respond.
Seeing her remain silent, Aaron let out a quiet laugh.
“I know. If we didn’t share the same mother, you probably wouldn’t have anything to do with me.”
“That’s right.”
She didn’t hesitate to twist the knife.
“I never thought I’d see the day when you protected Evan,” Stella added.
Before this, the possibility had never even crossed her mind.
Aaron fell silent.
The mention of Evan only irritated him further.
Just then, Yara called again.
The moment Aaron saw her number, his head began to ache.
He tossed the phone to Stella.
“Answer it for me.”
