controlled everything, always staying several steps ahead.
It was as if the life and death of everyone in Eirden rested in his hands.
Yet now, he lay facedown on the floor, barely clinging to life.
Stella narrowed her eyes.
When Michael saw her return, his expression faltered.
“Why are you back at this hour?”
Stella walked over to him.
“Dad.”
“Who called you?”
Someone must’ve notified her. The thought only made Michael angrier.
They’d actually dared to pull something like this right under his nose.
Stella took the whip from his hand.
“If you keep going, you’ll kill him.”
Michael let her take it.
Every staff member in the room stared in disbelief.
Michael had always been an extremely stern man. No one would ever dare take anything from his hand, yet Stella had just taken away his whip.
It was obvious how much he doted on his daughter.
If he hadn’t been tied up with so many problems recently, none of those things would’ve happened.
“You’re still protecting him?” Michael demanded.
“He’s Mom’s son too,” Stella replied.
She might refuse to accept Aaron as her brother, but he was still her mother’s son.
If they’d only shared a father, she wouldn’t have bothered intervening.
Aaron was carried away.
Stella sat beside Michael.
“You only just got out of the hospital. You shouldn’t get this worked up.”
“He was never like this before,”
Michael accepted the glass of water she handed him and took a sip.
He was deeply disappointed by Aaron’s recent behavior.
In the past, Aaron had never even given Yara a second glance.

He actually did all this for a woman…”
Michael couldn’t bring himself to finish.
Aaron was the son he’d always been most proud of, the future head of the Hogarth family.
Yet he’d done something like this for a woman.
He’d even agreed to give Stella all the mines in the two northwestern regions in exchange for Evan’s safety.
Yes, the mines would still belong to his own daughter.
But Aaron’s actions had crossed a line.
“Aaron has always had his own plans behind everything he does,” Stella said. “Who knows what he might be planning this time?”
As far as she was concerned, Aaron wasn’t the kind of man who would lose his head over a woman.
Hadn’t that been the case last time too?
“You mean he might…?”
“You don’t need to worry too much, Dad. He knows what he’s doing.”
“He clearly doesn’t this time!”
What restraint?
If Aaron truly knew where to draw the line, Michael wouldn’t be so worried.
His fear was that Aaron had completely lost all sense of restraint this time.
Stella fell silent.
Based on what she knew of Aaron, he wasn’t someone who would do something so irrational for a woman.
But he had offered her every mine in the two northwestern regions just to guarantee Evan’s safety.
