To put it plainly, Stella no longer believed she needed a relationship to be happy.
ter everything she had endured, love had become optional to her.
Jack nodded.
That evening, Stella returned to Hogarth Estate with Remi.
Russ followed close behind her.
Aaron had tried to find Stella earlier that day, but he hadn’t been able to locate her.
Still furious, he returned to the estate early to wait for her.
Stella headed straight for her private annex when she arrived, but Aaron had apparently anticipated that.
He was waiting outside..
As Stella stepped out of the car, she saw him leaning against a vehicle parked near the entrance.
Their eyes met.
The look in Aaron’s eyes made it clear that he wanted to tear her apart.
Judging from that alone, his feelings for Yara were far from simple.
Remi instinctively moved closer to Stella, bracing herself for a confrontation.
Aaron tossed his cigarette onto the ground and crushed it beneath his shoe.
Then he strode toward Stella.
But before he could reach her, Russ stepped in front of her.
“Mr. Hogarth.”
“Move.”
The sight of one of Michael’s men protecting Stella only made Aaron angrier.
Russ didn’t move.
Instead, he glanced over his shoulder at Stella.
“Ms. Rowan, please go inside.”
Stella nodded and started toward the annex with Remi.
The next moment, Aaron and Russ came to blows.
Stella stopped.
So did Remi.
As the fight erupted behind them, Stella’s expression turned completely cold.
Russ was Michael’s man and one of his most trusted longtime subordinates.

Yet because of Yara, Aaron had come after Stella and was now fighting Russ.
Wrights.
At that moment, only one thought echoed through Stella’s mind.
Every last one of them brought nothing but disaster.
