Chapter 157
Not that she was not good enough. She did not even love him now.
Not one bit of real feeling had ever gone to Evan.
That poison had been serious, and she had fed it to him with her own hands. She was basically a modern- day femme fatale.
Dora nodded too. “Evan, no matter what, she needs to learn a lesson this time. You’ve spoiled her rotten all
these years.
“It’s time she learned that without you, she’s nothing. And she can forget about getting out once she’s in
there.”
The women kept talking over one another, and the noise made Evan’s head pound.
“Enough!”
He barked the word, not wanting to hear another sentence from any of them.
Fiona, who had been about to speak again, shut her mouth immediately at his sudden roar.
But Summer still tried. “Steven…”
“Get out. All of you.”
Summer did not even get to finish before Evan cut her off and threw them out.
Right now, he did not want to see any of them.
Especially them.
Talking to them was like talking into a void.
He did not know if they truly never listened to a word he said, or if they just never remembered any of it.
Dora still tried to push on. “I know you can’t bear to see her suffer, but if you dare get her out this time, then I’ll die right in front of you.”
Evan’s attitude had driven her to the edge.
She had never liked Stella, and all these years Evan had kept protecting her.
And the more he protected her, the more Dora hated her.
Now that hatred had hit its peak.
Evan looked at Dora coldly.
She still wanted to say more, but the darkness in his eyes stopped her cold.
In the end, she swallowed the rest of her words and stormed out of the room.
Summer and Fiona saw Dora leave.

Suminer still looked like she wanted to say sotnething, but Fiona spoke for her first.
“Evan, blame anyone you want, but don’t blame Summer. She’s been speaking up for Stella this whole time.
“It was Mom who called the police.”
She never dared add the rest.
That she had been the one who brought the police to Mount Lara.
The consequences were too serious, and she did not have much money left now.
Summer looked at Evan.
She had assumed that after Fiona explained things for her like that he would at least say something in appreciation.
Instead, Evan did not even look at her.
Fiona directly wheeled Summer out of the room.
Once Evan was alone, he immediately called Patrick.
Patrick arrived not long after.
“Sir.”
Evan started, “Go get her out-”
But before he could say the last two words, the image of her feeding him porridge that afternoon flashed through his mind.
A pretty face. A soft smile. And a knife hidden underneath it.
He had wondered then why her attitude had changed so suddenly.
Now he knew.
The poison had been in the porridge. And that softness in her eyes had been a knife, carving into him one
stroke at a time.
