Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 209

Chapter 209

If he had cared a little mote, would their baby still have been lost?

The thought hit so hard Evan couldn’t let himself keep going.

It was suffocating. Like something with thin, sharp fingers had wrapped itself around his heart and was tightening without mercy.

He took several deep breaths before finally pushing the door open.

The room was brightly lit.

At some point, Stella had woken up. She was sitting up in bed, on the phone.

He couldn’t tell who she was talking to.

The moment she saw him come in, she hurriedly said into the phone, “Handle things on the Eirden side however you think best. That’s it. Bye.”

The words Eirden made something in Evan’s chest tighten again.

Eirden?

What did she mean, handle things on the Eirden side? Did she have some connection there?

Thinking about the trouble Ruby had been running into oyer in Eirden these past few days, Evan’s eyes grew even darker.

He carried the tray over to her. “You must be hungry. The kitchen made your favorites.”

“Is it poisoned?”

The question came out light, almost casual, but laced with mockery.

Evan froze.

His chest was already tight, and hearing her ask that made it tighten even more,

Is it poisoned?

That weightless tone of hers somehow made it worse.

A bitter smile tugged at his mouth. “I’m sorry.”

Sorry for what?

For not believing she had miscarried?

Or for the fact that even after losing the baby, she still wasn’t safe in his world?

Hearing Evan apologize at all, Stella shot him a sideways look. There was surprise in her eyes, but far more ridicule.

That look hit Evan harder than he wanted to admit. “Eat first.”

He picked up the bowl and looked at her. “Want me to feed you?”

“No. Get out.”

Her tone was blunt and cold.

Evan’s jaw tightened. “…”

Stella added, “You smell awful. It’s making me lose my appetite.”

“I already showered when I got back,” Evan said through his teeth.

“That doesn’t help. You still stink.”

Evan: “…”

The two of them stayed locked there.

If he didn’t leave, she wouldn’t eat.

In the end, Evan gave in first. He stood up. “Fine. Eat first.”

But instead of leaving the room, he went into the bathroom to shower again.

The moment he was gone, Stella started eating.

Her body needed nutrition right now. She wasn’t about to punish herself by skipping meals because of people like them.

By the time she finished, Evan came out of the bathroom looking like he had nearly scrubbed a layer of skin

off.

“What about now?”

The answer he got was still the same two deeply disgusted words.

“You still stink.”

Evan: “…”

This woman.

He walked over and sat down by her bed.

Stella shot him a cold glance.

“We need to talk,” he said.

“What is there to talk about between us?”

“The baby.”

Stella: “”

The second he said baby, the coldness in her face turned sharp and violent.

Evan reached out and grabbed her hand. “I know you want children. I’ve already asked the best doctors to

help you recover. Once your body heals, you can have as many as you want.

He had thought about it alot while he was showering.
