Chapter 210

The child.

Maybe, once upon a time, Stella had truly looked forward to having one with him.

But now, the moment Evan brought it up, all she felt was disgust.

She grabbed the wet wipe the maid had left for her and began wiping her hands over and over-specifically the hand she had used to hit him.

Every movement was filled with open disgust.

Evan watched her, eyes narrowing. “You hate me that much?”

With a sharp thud, she threw the wipe onto the nightstand.

She didn’t even spare him a glance.

“If you won’t sign the divorce papers,” she said coldly, “I’ve already had my side start legal proceedings.”

Evan: “…”

“This divorce is happening,” she continued. “And don’t ever bring up children again just to disgust me.”

That last line-‘disgust me’-landed like a blade straight through his chest.

Evan let out a cold laugh. “Legal proceedings?”

Good.

So she was really going that far just to leave him?

No matter what they had once been to each other?

Stella turned and lay back on the bed, shooting him a cold look. “I wanted us to end this peacefully.”

Peacefully?

She had turned the entire city upside down these past few days, and now she was talking about a peaceful ending?

Evan’s expression turned dark. “Not happening.”

Divorce?

Impossible.

No matter how far she had pushed things, he had never once considered letting her go.

“As long as I’m alive, don’t even think about me letting you go be with Felix.”

He stood up and kicked the chair beside him so hard it flipped over.

Stella’s gaze flicked to the overturned chair, then went still.

The moment Felix was mentioned, she lost all desire to even speak to Evan.

Jet silence only fueled tris anger.

“You are my wife,” Evansnapped. “Even if Felix helps you, your lawsuit isn’t going anywhere!”

Did she really think she could just use the law to walk out of this marriage?

Dream on.

Stella said nothing.

Evan pulled out his phone and dialed a number right in front of her.

The call connected quickly. “Sir.”

It was the legal department.

Evan glanced at Stella and said through clenched teeth, “Spread the word. If anyone in Harbor City takes Stella’s divorce case, they won’t have a career left.”

“Yes, sir.”

He hung up and tossed the phone onto the bed beside her.

Then he leaned in, bracing his hands on either side of her.

“Did you hear that?” he said quietly. “No one in this city will take your case.”

“What, are you planning to represent yourself?”

Stella: “…”

Looking at him now, she suddenly felt like she didn’t recognize this man at all.
