Chapter 239
“What do you mean?”
Summer’s heart skipped the moment she heard that.
Stella’s voice turned cold. “What do I mean? Summer, you staged this whole thing yourself. Whatever happens next, you can deal with the consequences.”
She wasn’t going to play along anymore.
Let Summer figure out how to clean up her own mess.
Then, almost thoughtfully, Stella added, “Honestly, I think you’re panicking. Something this serious, a missing child… how could you ‘not’ call the police? Don’t you think?”
Summer’s voice tightened. “What are you trying to do?”
“Don’t worry,” Stella said calmly. “Since I’m the only one thinking clearly, I’ll help you call them.”
And with that, she hung up.
Then she immediately dialed the police herself and even gave them the address.
After finishing, she got up and called Gray.
Outside, Evan sat in the car for a while longer.
He smoked another two and a half cigarettes before finally tossing the last half-smoked one aside and getting out.
The moment he walked in-
He saw Stella already awake.
She was coming down the stairs, phone in hand.
“Mm. Stay far away. And clean up any traces you left behind.”
He didn’t know who she was talking to.
But the moment she saw him, she hung up.
She stood halfway down the staircase, looking down at him.
For a split second-
There was something about her.
A presence.
Cold. Untouchable. Almost regal.
That word had never suited her before.

The air around him dropped instantly.
“What?”
“I said no. Didn’t you hear me?”
“You want to divorce Evan, don’t you? Once the baby is with you, he’ll definitely agree. You know how much he cares about his brother’s child-”
Summer’s voice grew more agitated-
But suddenly-
Evan reached out and cut the recording off.
Silence.
He looked at Stella, his gaze dark and chilling.
They stared at each other.
For a split second, the smile on Stella’s lips faltered.
She raised a brow. “Why’d you stop it? Not going to keep listening?”
Wasn’t that enough?
Wasn’t it obvious the baby had been in Summer’s hands all along?
That this entire thing was staged?
Then why-
Why shut it off and look at her like that?
For the first time, Stella genuinely couldn’t read what he was thinking.
But the next second-
He made it very clear.
Evan suddenly let go of her wrist and flung her hand aside.
“Did Felix teach you this too?”
Stella froze.
Evan’s voice turned colder, sharper.
“The AI tech his company develops… you’ve gotten pretty good at using it, haven’t you?”
Stella: “”
AI?
Her eyes flicked to the phone on the table, then back to him.
And in that instant-
She understood.
The kind of trust he had in his family…
Unless he saw it with his own eyes, heard it face to face, nothing could shake it.
