Chapter 272

What was any of that before?
Before, they had only been making moves against Wright Group, and even then, it had only been enough to give Evan a headache for a while.
Back then, they still were not sure how Stella truly felt about Evan.
They also were not sure the two of them would really get divorced.
But now it was different.
Seeing how happy she was about the divorce, Aaron knew one thing for certain.
Since it was finally over, there was no way the Hogarth family’s little princess could suffer that much and just let it end there.
“Understood,” Gray said.
“A gift for her new beginning should start with… the Wright family.”
“Of course. Arrangements have already been made,” Gray replied.
After all the years he had spent by Aaron’s side, Gray knew exactly how he handled things.
So the moment he learned that Steven’s daughter had died and Stella had returned to Mount Pansworth, he
had already guessed that her relationship with Evan was over for good.
That meant he could more or less predict what Aaron would do next, so Gray had already made preparations on his end.
After hanging up, he made another call.
“At tomorrow’s Eastside auction, buy ;Light of the Red Diamond’.’
“Yes, sir.”
“And anything else worth buying, take all of it. Don’t leave a single good piece for the Wright family.”
He had already heard that after Summer gave birth to twins, Dora had planned to buy ‘Light of the Red Diamond’ at the auction as a reward for her.
Now one of the babies was dead.
Even so, Dora had not canceled the plan. She was probably still intending to buy the red diamond to comfort
Summer.
Something that precious could never be allowed to end up in Summer’s hands.
Stella had no idea that Aaron was the kind of man who never forgot a grudge.
She knew even less about what he was planning.

She was already fast asleep.
But Evan stayed awake the entire night.
He called Lucas and Leon out. When they got his call, both of them assumed he wanted to hit a bar.
Instead, they ended up by the Lucas.
By the time they arrived, several empty bottles were already lying beside him, and he was half drunk.
Leon glanced at Lucas. “What the hell happened?”
Lucas just shrugged.
What else could it be? He had obviously fought with Stella again. And lately, she had only been getting
wilder and harder to control.
Evan wanted to rein her in, but he clearly could not.
Lucas walked over, and he and Leo sat down on either side of Evan.
Neither of them said anything at first. They just sat there with him, staring out over the dark Lucas.
Evan knew they were there.
With a bitter, mocking laugh, he said, “What kind of bullshit responsibility is this? Since when is responsibility more important than your wife?”
Lucas fell silent..
So did Leo.
Neither of them knew how to answer that.
Lucas had been dragged out drinking the night before and had slept through the entire day, so he had no idea what huge mess had blown up in Harbor City.
On top of that, his own company had been swamped lately.
He was so busy he had basically missed everything that had happened these past two days.
Leon was no better. His father had sent him out of town on business for several days, and he had only gotten back that night.
Looking at Evan like this, drunk and wrecked, neither of them knew how bad things had gotten between him and Stella.
