Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 289

Chapter 289

Dora picked up quickly. Her voice was dark and cold. “Did the divorce go through?”

The moment Stella heard Dora’s voice again, she wanted to wrap her hands around her throat, even through the phone.

Before she could speak, Dora cut in first. “Now that it’s done, just take the one billion and be grateful. As for five billion, stop dreaming. If you still can’t accept it, then go ahead and sue us.”

On Dora’s end, the fact that Stella was still able to call at a time like this only made her even more dissatisfied with the police.

The evidence was solid. Stella had kidnapped the child, and she had gotten the child killed. So why had they still not arrested her?

Dora wished they would haul Stella off to jail that very second.

Stella said, “There was a problem on the way to finalize the divorce. I’m having a new copy of the agreement sent over right now. Tell Evan to sign it.”

“What?”

The second Dora heard something had gone wrong on the way to process the divorce, she nearly jumped out

of her seat.

She had finally gotten Evan to sign it yesterday, and now Stella was saying there had been a problem?

Getting that signature in the first place had already been hard enough. And now this again? Would that stubborn idiot even sign it a second time?

Grinding her teeth, Dora snapped, “What problem? I think you just don’t want the divorce anymore.”

She was furious.

Anything could go wrong, but not this.

Not when it came to Stella divorcing Evan.

She should have been out of the Wright family a long time ago.

“The agreement will be delivered to the family estate within the hour,” Stella said.

“Stella Rowan, you…”

Dora still wanted to curse her out, but Stella had already hung up.

Right now, Stella only wanted one thing: the divorce.

Until the papers were fully finalized, she had no interest in wasting another word on the Wright family.

At the hospital, Dora stared at the disconnected call and was so furious she nearly smashed her phone.

Fiona had heard the entire conversation and immediately added fuel to the fire. “What kind of problem could happen on the way to finalize a divorce? She clearly just doesn’t want to go through with it.”

Dora was already furious. Hearing that only made the ache in her chest worse.

That damn Stella. She had better not be playing games.

And she had better get this divorce done before she got thrown in prison.

A daughter-in-law like that was absolutely unacceptable in the Wright family.

That afternoon, Evan spent hours in meetings at the hospital.

The projects in Baggen City and Sia had taken a brutal hit from the Hogarth Group.

At this point, there was no salvaging them.

Evan had already arranged for people to get in touch with Hogarth’s side. He would most likely have to make a trip to the Eirden himself.

The moment he stepped out of the conference room, Dora appeared with a new divorce agreement in hand.

It was not the one Stella had sent to the Wright family estate.

The copy Stella sent clearly stated that she wanted five billion from the marital assets, instead of the previous fifty-fifty split.

Dora naturally refused. So she had another version drafted, one that required Stella to leave the marriage with nothing, and brought that one to Evan for his signature.

When Stella first said something had gone wrong on the way to process the divorce, Dora had assumed it was just another trick because Stella did not really want to leave.
