Chapter 494
At afternoon tea, Stella was sipping a steaming cup of fruit tea when Gray came over with a stack of documents for her to sign.
Stella said to him, “Ruby called just now.”
“What did she say?”
“She finally realized her trouble in Eirden has something to do with me.”
Before this, Ruby had probably assumed that when Stella caused trouble, the worst she could do was burn down a few houses or something along those lines.
She had never expected Stella’s influence to reach this far.
Stella had managed to disrupt Ruby’s business directly, pushing it into its current state.
During this period, Ruby had devoted all her attention to resolving the conflicts in Eirden. She had almost completely overlooked where the trouble had started.
It had started because Stella and Felix had stirred things up.
Or rather…
At first, Ruby had never taken the conflict Stella created seriously.
In her eyes, no matter how capable Stella was, the most she could do was make a few moves in Harbour City.
As for Felix, yes, he had some business cooperation with Hogarth Group in Eirden.
And yes, the Hernandez family had some assets there too.
But their influence should not have been powerful enough to affect certain political and business decisions inside Eirden.
This time, Ruby had finally learned the truth.
She had underestimated Stella.
Ruby had been desperately trying to resolve the trouble in Eirden, while Stella kept adding pressure from Harbour City.
That was why Ruby’s problems still had not been solved.
Gray said, “Then she must be suffering terribly right now.”
“Suffering?” Stella said. “She was still baring her teeth at me, Still arrogant as ever.”
No wonder Summer was Ruby’s daughter.
Summer’s arrogance was exactly like hers.
Gray said, “In that case, she still hasn’t truly understood how much power you have over her. Once she does, that’s when the suffering will really begin.”
Hearing this, Stella’s smile deepened.
She nodded. “You’re right. Once she truly understands, that’s when she’ll suffer.”

And Ruby’s suffering would be far worse than Dora’s or Summer’s.
Because Ruby had built everything herself.
No matter what methods she had used, those businesses in her hands had been raised by her one step at a time.
Now that they had fallen into this state, the torment in Ruby’s heart would be far worse than anything Summer could feel.
Stella knew a little about Ruby’s rise.
Ruby had crawled up from the very bottom, using dirty methods to reach her current position.
And in the end, she would still lose everything.
Gray said, “The fact that it took her this long to figure it out shows that she really never took you seriously before.”
“Yes,” Stella said. “She never did.”
The steaming fruit tea released a sweet, tempting aroma.
The chefs had all been carefully chosen by Gray. He had said he wanted to help Stella recover properly.
And recently, Stella’s body really had recovered quite well.
Then Gray remembered something and added, “Summer has started working too.”
Stella paused.
She raised an eyebrow at Gray. “She started already?”
“Yes.”
Gray nodded.
The smile on Stella’s lips became more mocking.
She had thought Summer would refuse to lower her head no matter what. She had expected Summer to hold out for at least another two days.
Gray said, “She hasn’t eaten for two days, after all.”
“Only two days. Back when she was in the hospital, she used to go days without eating.”
Though during the gaps between her performances, she probably did eat something.
Either way, she had made quite a scene back then.
Gray said, “These past two days, she truly hasn’t had a single drop of water or bite of food. That’s different from secretly eating before.”
Hearing the words secretly eating, Stella laughed again.
Gray was right.
No matter how dramatic Summer had been before, she would never truly let herself suffer.
In front of people, she would put on that act.
