Chapter 50
Hearing the difference in Stella’s tone, Evan’s temper flared even higher.
She tried to pull her hand free, but his grip only tightened.
He shot her a warning look.
She swallowed her anger, barely stopping herself from smashing her bag into his face again – especially not in front of Felix.
Felix’s gaze settled directly on Stella.
“Did you catch a chill last night?”
The wind had been brutal. She’d stood alone on that bridge in the pouring rain.
Evan’s expression darkened instantly. The concern in Felix’s voice made him look ready to rip someone
apart.
“Felix,” he said coldly, “I’m not dead yet.”
Felix didn’t even glance at him.
Stella answered instead.
“You could be.”
Evan froze.
He shot her a furious look.
But she wasn’t looking at him anymore. She gave Felix a small shake of her head.
“I’m fine.”
Felix nodded once and walked past them.
From beginning to end, he didn’t spare Evan a single extra glance.\
Evan’s grip tightened again.
“You acting like I don’t exist?”
Especially Felix. What the hell was that supposed to mean? Things were already falling apart, and now he was stirring it further?
Stella winced at the pressure on her wrist.
“Didn’t you treat me like I didn’t exist when you’re with Summer?”
That name instantly darkened his face.
She tried again to pull free. He refused to let go.
Frustrated, she swung her bag at him again. This time he caught it mid–air.

“So now you just hit whenever you feel like it?”
Was this becoming a habit?
Where had she learned this temper? She’d never been like this before. Probably Jennifer had filled her head with nonsense.
Seeing Felix had only made him more agitated.
Without another word, he dragged Stella into his car and drove straight to the Wright Group headquarters.
The moment they walked in, employees stiffened.
Evan’s expression alone was enough to make the entire floor tense.
But when they noticed Stella beside him, whispers started immediately.
Their marriage had never been public. She had never once appeared at the company.
And for the past six months, most of the staff assumed Summer was the one poised to become Mrs. Wright.
Now Evan was here, holding another woman’s hand.
“Isn’t that the woman who posted the marriage certificate yesterday?” someone whispered. “So it wasn’t fake?”
“Of course it wasn’t fake. Didn’t you see how Mr. Wright is holding her hand?”
“Then what about Miss Summer-”
“Shh. Stop.”
Patrick had arrived.
The whispers died instantly.
He looked exhausted. The past two days of media chaos had clearly drained him.
When he stepped into Evan’s office and saw Stella there, he paused briefly.
Then quickly bowed his head.
“Sir. Madam.”
Stella jerked her hand free and turned toward the door.
Evan pulled her back into his arms.
“You’re staying here with me today.”
His tone was as gentle as he could manage – but still forceful.
She looked up at him.
And slapped him.
Hard.
