Chapter 506
If she could still feel a little warmth downstairs, the higher Summer went, the colder it became.
The closer she got to her room, the lower the temperature dropped.
She had no idea when the heat had been turned off.
All she knew was that she was freezing now.
“She’s trying to force us to our deaths,” Summer said, nearly choking on the words..
Mrs. Mendes said, “She’s trying to make everyone wish they were dead.”
Before, everyone had wanted Stella to suffer in the Wright family, to live a life worse than death.
So back then, they had done everything they could to torment her.
They had made her lose her child.
They had made sure she had no peaceful days.
Now, it was their turn.
They were the ones living a life worse than death.
Summer stepped forward and pinched Mrs. Mendes’s blanket. “You’re still cold under something this thick?”
Mrs. Mendes’s blanket was not exactly thin.
Even so, she was still trembling all over.
“The bedding underneath is too thin,” Mrs. Mendes said. “It doesn’t hold any warmth.”
Before, they had thought there was heating in the room, so there was no need to use thick bedding.
Who would have thought Stella would suddenly pull something like this?
Summer asked, “There aren’t any extra blankets?”
As she spoke, she quickly went to check the closet.
She remembered that every room kept extra blankets in the top cabinet.
Just as she was about to find a stool and climb up to look, Mrs. Mendes said, “I already checked. They’ve all been taken away.”
Summer froze.
At those words, every drop of blood in her body seemed to lose its warmth.
They had all been taken away.
Fine.
Stella really was ruthless.
What was this now?
Was she planning to torment them day and night?

Was she really going to make sure they could not even have peace in the middle of the night?
Summer took a deep breath.
“She really is trying to make us wish we were dead.”
She had worked in the animal enclosure for half the day, and her entire body stank.
She had even accidentally gotten animal waste on herself, along with clumps of fur stuck to her clothes.
Right now, more than anything, she needed hot water to wash herself properly.
But who would have thought Stella would be this vicious?
She was not even letting them take a shower.
“Why don’t we sleep together tonight?” Mrs. Mendes thought for a moment before suggesting it to Summer.
Summer’s already ugly expression darkened instantly. “What did you say?”
Sleep with Mrs. Mendes?
What was she thinking?
Summer had fallen on hard times, yes.
But that did not mean she could accept anything.
Mrs. Mendes heard the disgust in Summer’s tone and sneered inwardly.
What was she still acting so proud for?
Look at the state she had been reduced to.
Back when Mrs. Mendes worked for the Bailey family, she had always thought Ruby was the most capable woman in all of Harbor City.
But now?
Hadn’t she fallen too?
Falling was one thing. Yet they still insisted on putting on airs.
Suppressing the dissatisfaction in her heart, Mrs. Mendes said, “The blanket on your bed is even thinner than mine. If we sleep together, we can share the covers. At least it’ll be a little warmer.”
Besides, Summer’s mattress was thicker. It could help them get through the night.
In Mrs. Mendes’s opinion, this was a very practical solution.
But Summer said coldly, “No need. We’ll sleep separately.”
The disgust in her voice was almost impossible to hide.
With that, she stopped looking at Mrs. Mendes and turned to leave the room.
Noisy voices were coming from downstairs.
Dora’s voice.
