Aaron got the news too.
He called Stella.
“You’re not divorced?”
“He ran.”
Stella’s voice was low.
The more she thought about it, the more foolish she felt.
No one had expected Evan to pull something like this.
Harbor City had been locked down so tightly.
And none of them had expected Lucas to be fooled by Evan.
If Lucas had not taken Evan out of Harbor City, there was no way Evan could have left on his own.
And now the whole situation had become a mess.
Aaron said, “Come back to Eirden. Leave the rest to me.”
Clearly, Aaron had reached his limit with his sister.
He had indulged her enough lately.
He had let her settle things at the Wright estate and spend far too much time there.
But now Aaron was worried about her.
When it came to Evan, it was better to make a clean break.
Stella said, “Okay. I’ll come back tomorrow.”
Everything that needed to be finished in Harbor City was finished.
It was time for her to go home.
Aaron asked, “Are you upset?”
“Yeah.”
Stella answered quietly again.
Evan had pulled something so ridiculous, and it left her feeling miserable.
And then there was the matter of their marriage.
Thinking about everything Evan had said when he proposed to her all those years ago…
Looking back now…
She had said Summer had turned herself into a joke.
But was she not the same?
She had saved Felix, yet had not even remembered what he looked like.
Later, when Evan brought up that incident, she had never questioned him closely.
She did not know how Evan had learned about what happened between her and Felix.
But that incident had been the main reason she accepted Evan’s proposal.
