Chapter 767
Gray paused at Stella’s question.
Then he said gravely, “Whoever is helping Summer has been extremely careful. They never showed their face.”
Which meant they had found nothing.
The people Gray had sent to investigate had only managed to trace a few minor players.
And unless the person behind them was willing to reveal something, there was nothing useful to be learned from them.
“Who owns the house in Crown Bay?”
“It’s registered under the Wright family.”
Stella went still.
“The Wright family?”
“Under Evan’s name.”
Stella said nothing.
Evan again?
Was it really him?
Her expression darkened.
Evan.
Why did it always come back to Evan?
But Gray continued, “That house clearly does not belong to Evan.”
“How can you tell?”
The property was registered under Evan’s name.
How could Gray say it was not his?
Stella remembered how Evan had always taken Summer’s side and helped her again and again.
Back then, she could still understand it.
But if he was helping Summer now, why?
Summer had played a part in Steven’s death.
And the child she had with Frank was not even a Wright
If Evan was still helping her after all that, there was only one explanation
Maybe Evan had never protected Summer because of Steven
Maybe it had always been for himself
Maybe he had feelings for Summer that even he had never recognized
“The property was transferred into Evan’s name three days ago.” Giray said
Stella said nothing.
+1!

“By then, Evan was already gone from Harbor City. There was no way he could have bought that house for Summer.”
“What are you saying?”
Stella’s thoughts were a mess.
Gray’s explanation only confused her more.
“Someone used Evan’s name to arrange a place for Summer,” Gray said. “They were trying to throw us off.”
Stella went quiet.
Of course.
A house transferred into Evan’s name three days ago could not possibly have been something he bought himself. Someone had used Evan’s name to help Summer, and they had done it so carefully that Stella’s people could not trace them
Stella drew in a slow breath.
“Who do you think it is?”
Gray had spent enough time with her in Harbor City to know the place well now.
He knew who might dare oppose Stella and Felix.
But the people who would oppose them…
“It doesn’t look like the Baileys. And it doesn’t look like the Hollands either.”
The Bailey and Holland families had the most reason to hate Stella.
Ruby, especially, would have loved nothing more than to destroy/her.
And Summer was her daughter.
But why rule out the Baileys and Hollands?
Because Ruby was barely holding herself together.
And the Hollands were in just as much trouble. They were being crushed so thoroughly in Harbor City that they could barely sta afloat.
