Chapter 781

“Me? You want me to stall her?”

Lucas glanced at Jennifer, who had already gotten into a car ahead of him, then quickly started driving after her.

“Keep her there for me. I’ll be there first thing tomorrow morning.”

“How am I supposed to keep her there?”

That was not exactly a simple request.

How was he supposed to stop her?

Leon sighed. “Man, whether my baby makes it depends on you. You can’t just stand by and do nothing.”

Lucas fell silent.

Oh, hell.

He was already regretting making that call.

Now it had somehow become a life-or-death situation.

“Why does she want to end the pregnancy?”

Leon had clearly pushed her too far.

And now Lucas was supposed to stop her from making a decision about her own pregnancy?

How was that supposed to make sense?

“It’s a long story. Just keep her there for me. Please.”

“Why can’t you get here sooner?”

If Jennifer planned to go through with it today, Lucas had no idea what he could do.

“There weren’t any flights left. I’m driving, so I won’t get there until tomorrow morning.”

“Until then, please make sure nothing happens to her or the baby. I’m begging you.”

Lucas said nothing.

Leon was actually begging him.

So now he had no choice but to get involved?

What a disaster.

Lucas took a slow breath.

“Can I even stop her?”

For Jennifer to have reached this point, things between them had to be bad.

And it was not surprising.

The Redson family clearly did not approve of Jennifer.

“But even if she keeps the baby, what can you do?” Lucas asked as he drove. “Your family probably won’t agree to you marrying her just because there’s a child.”

“Don’t worry about that. Just keep her there.”

“Fine.”

Lucas did not want to keep arguing.

He would try to stall her.

But how exactly he was supposed to do that was another problem.

He barely knew Jennifer.

This was nothing like Stella.

But Leon had asked him so desperately.

“I’ll do my best.”

“Not your best. You have to keep her there.”

Lucas fell silent.

He really should not have made that call.

His head was already starting to hurt.

Jennifer got out of her car and paid the driver.

Then Lucas appeared in front of her.

Seeing that he had followed her, Jennifer was startled at first.

Then her face darkened.

“Mr. Carter, what exactly are you doing?”

He could not possibly claim this was another coincidence.

She did not believe there were that many coincidences in the world.

Lucas did not hide it.

“Leon asked me to follow you.”

“What?”
