Chapter 859
“Does Felix know?” Evan asked, his eyes narrowing.
“He should by now,” Sid replied. “He’ll probably confront Miss Rowan about it.”
Evan gave a cold laugh.
“Confront her?”
As though that would accomplish anything.
Was Stella the kind of woman who would back down just because Felix made a scene?
Once she dug in her heels, she feared no one and nothing.
Even before she had the Hogarth family behind her, she had dared to fight everyone.
Now that she had their support, why would she be afraid of Felix?
“Felix, Felix,” Evan murmured with an amused smile. “You don’t lose your head often, but you certainly did this time.”
If Felix was protecting Summer solely because of that dead woman, then he really had made a foolish mistake.
But Evan did not believe Felix was the kind of man who acted so irrationally.
There had to be another reason.
And whatever that reason was, it was probably connected to some scheme involving Stella.
If that was true, she would forgive him even less.
Either way, Felix was already finished in Stella’s eyes.
“What worries me is the Hogarth family,” Sid said.
“The Hogarths?” Evan frowned. “Aaron is her biological brother, and Michael is her father. What is there to worry about?”
“Mr. Hogarth has always trusted Mr. Hernandez. And didn’t you sense something during this trip”
Sid had gone to Eirden with Evan.
Anything Evan had noticed, Sid had noticed too.
The Hogarth family did not seem as simple or welcoming toward Stella as they appeared on the surface
Evan fell silent.
A grave look passed through his eyes.

Of course he had sensed it.
“That foolish woman,” he muttered.
She had walked straight into an even larger vortex.
No one yet knew what that vortex would mean for her.
Evan could only hope nothing terrible was waiting at its center.
But he had his own problems to handle.
For now, he could not spare enough attention for Stella.
He could only hope that whatever was coming would not happen until he was free to deal with it.
“If Mr. Hogarth’s position on Summer is unclear, things could become very difficult for Miss Rowan,” Sid said.
“More than difficult.”
It would be far worse than that.
Stella had believed returning to Eirden would mark the end of all her suffering.
If things became even worse after she returned home, it would devastate her.
In Harbor City, she had been free to fight back.
But what would she do against the Hogarth family?
Thinking of everything she might soon face, Evan’s expression turned heavy.
Back in Eirden, Felix came to see Stella in the middle of the night.
The housekeeper stopped him at the door.
He had been calling Stella all day.
Now, even at this hour, he would not stop.
When they refused to let him in, he tried to force his way past them
With no other choice, one of the staff hurried upstairs to wake Stella
Stella normally slept deeply.
When the maid woke her, she looked dazed and barely alert.
“What is it?”
