Before, no matter what Evan said, Stella had refused to listen to his explanations
Now it was the same with Felix.
When it came to Summer, Stella would not listen to a word he said either.
Thinking about how badly things had deteriorated between Stella and Felix filled Evan with satisfaction.
Let them fight.
There should never have been any possibility between them in the first place.
“The situation is complicated,” Felix said. “She has to stay in Eirden.”
Evan gave a cold laugh.
“If you insist on taking her to Seaborne, you’ll be pushing her straight into danger.”
Every word Felix spoke was edged with frost.
But Evan did not believe him.
“As long as she agrees…”
He stopped there.
As long as Stella agreed to come to Seaborne, Evan would immediately get her out of Eirden.
Felix was furious at his attitude.
“You already hurt her badly enough before. Are you really planning to keep doing it?”
He had not wanted to say so much to Evan.
But Stella’s current situation had him on edge.
She was ready to leave Eirden at any moment.
“I won’t hurt her.”
“Encouraging her to leave Eirden is exactly what will put her in danger.”
Stella had wanted to leave for some time now.
Felix did not believe Evan had nothing to do with that.
At that moment, regret rose in him.
He should have dealt with Evan back in Harbor City when he had the chance.
Stella had already been disappointed in Evan beyond repair.
Yet somehow, he could still influence her.
Evan gave a humorless laugh.
“I’m the one pushing her into danger? Who exactly has been hurting her this time?”
“You and Aaron are both unbelievable. Why else would she suddenly want to leave Eirden?”
Evan had completely lost his temper.

Felix had tried to steal his wife, and now he was blaming Evan for everything too?
Evan refused to take that accusation.
Done with the conversation, he ended the call.
On his end, he smoked two cigarettes back to back.
“Lunatic.”
Felix had accused him of leading Stella toward a dead end.
But from where Evan stood, returning to Eirden had been the dead end all along.
And Felix had the nerve to put that on him.
Evan had met shameless men before, but none quite like this.
Then there was the Hogarth family.
He had once thought Stella’s brother would protect her.
What a brother.
When it came to Summer, Aaron had sided against his own sister.
That was the most absurd part of all.
Amos sat across from him and had heard the entire call.
Seeing how furious Evan was, he remarked, “Felix really is shameless.”
“Looking at the situation now, who exactly is pushing her toward danger? He talks as though Eirden is paradise.”
As far as Amos was concerned, Stella returning to Eirden had been a mistake from the start.
Going back there had been dangerous in itself.
Evan was already irritated.
Hearing Amos criticize Felix only made him more agitated.
He took another hard drag from his cigarette.
“Felix said that woman wasn’t what I thought. Said she wasn’t some great lost love. If that’s true, why is he going so far for her
sister?”
