Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 918

Stella fell silent.

There was something fragile in that silence.

She wanted nothing more to do with Evan.

There had even been countless moments when she wished he would die.

But not like this.

If he died because he had taken the blame for her, that burden would be far too heavy for her to carry.

“What’s wrong?” Remi asked. “Worried about him?”

A cold glint immediately returned to Stella’s eyes.

“It’s only natural to worry,” Remi continued. “Evan could handle Mr. Hernandez or your brother. General Litt is the real danger.”

She paused before adding, “And if Litt does kill him, maybe Evan will finally have repaid everything he owes you.”

Stella said nothing.

Settled?

No.

It could never be settled that easily.

“There were plenty of times when I wanted him dead,” Stella said. “Do you really think that would make us even?”

“How badly did he hurt you for you to hate him this much?” Remi asked. “You must have loved him deeply once.”

Stella went completely silent.

Loved him?

Perhaps she had, in the beginning.

But no love, no matter how intense, could survive years of being worn down.

The entire Wright family had drained her until she had nothing left to give.

In the end, even her love for Evan had disappeared beneath all that pain.

When Stella did not answer, Remi stopped pressing her.

She only said, “Let’s hope he makes it back alive tonight.”

Her words made the danger feel even more real.

Stella glanced at her and parted her lips, but ultimately said nothing.

She hoped Evan would survive too.

At least tonight.

At least he should not die because of her.

After that, Stella’s resentment toward Felix and Aaron only deepened.
